Puna Kai for sale

What happens first, Puna Kai is sold or Popeye’s opens?  Or will road crews keep the roundabout blocked so neither matters?

It will involve mulling.

It will involve mulling.

I believe a study is required first.

How about if all us Punawebbers pool our money and buy it! We can rename it Punaweb Kai and run the mall Puna style. We can start a Tenant's Association requiring modest dues, and then splinter off into factions so nobody knows who the legitimate association is. And we can spend all the tenant's dues suing each other so none of the potholes in the parking lot ever get fixed.

What else? Close every business that has a restroom without a functioning urinal?

How about dismantling that gigantic cell tower next to Malama "because 5G" and then complain about always having a weak signal?

We could gate off all the entrances and exits except one, and if it's ever temporarily closed due do an accident we can divert traffic through a potholed graveled area instead of seriously considering any 'alternative access' points.

Hmmm....there must be many more ways that we can "improve" the mall Puna style...

New siding for all the buildings ... made out of old pallets.

Don't forget the "generational trauma", and the fact (fact!) that residents of the mall are "owed" something.

We could replace the traffic light with an 8-lane roundabout. The inside lanes will be for the drive-throughs. For families who can't decide between Popeyes and some other yet-to-open eatery, they can get into the roundabout and use multiple drive-throughs without technically ever leaving traffic. The Circle of Seed Oils. Candidates running for office can use the greenspace at the roundabout exits to peacock their fake smiles and wave at traffic, temporarily blinding people who are just trying to text and drive while cotton-mouth munching a dry drive-through biscuit.

Seven lanes are my limit (especially as the lanes are on the wrong side of the road). I suggest the county build the equivalent of Swindon's "magic roundabout" in Pahoa. This will allow local residents to have picnics nearby and watch the entertainment.
