Methinks you're confused.. maybe do a little more research..

Well, yes, my apologies.

I confused the wording of improvements versus replacement.

And I finally broke down and subscribed to "Yesterday's News Tomorrow" and read the article Obie posted.

I'm shocked they even admitted that a roundabout is not feasible for this location and in the end, I am sure the 18 MILLION will be a great down payment for the eventual completion.

Again, my apologies for the confusion.

Bahaha,, Agree Oink, its like parking a Carrier into a pond. And +1 Kalakoa, as soon as exit, back on skinny roads. The design is to be future proof ?? I missed going to meeting about it last week,, shoots.

People walk and ride across this everyday sans drama.

" SNARLS TRAFFIC " is a joke ..max ever 6-8 cars mauka stacked up ..good vibes / throw shakas always.

Bikes and pedestrian never have to wait. Just keep highway side.

A second lane is seriously enough + i guess a sidewalk for faint of heart / safe space security

What it DOES enable is higher speed driBing and thats not so great on country road.

So so many people lose it on the drop off @ Hale Manu, they just replace guard rail today.

FWIW, I spoke directly with engineer in charge of this the day after they survey / spray da road ..He said 1-1.5 year BEFORE start, 1-1.5 yeat to complete and " One lane will be open at all times during construction '

So der ya go, straight from horse's mouth y'all

ETA : Salamat MM,, she OUT herself again .. have a peaceful weekend my frienemy.

I still wonder why the traffic direction that has to yield was reversed years ago?

County "traffic management", probably as the result of some "studies".

Hilo wants us Punatics to *leave* as fast as possible. And not congest *local* roads during morning rush hour! ;-)

" I have no idea about County/State plans in the matter, and since all Obie posted was cryptic ramblings."

I posted a picture of a ridiculous artist rendering of a multi million dollar bridge just to see everyone's reaction.

Your opinion was it's just fine to build a bridge with 2 sidewalks, 2 bike lanes and 3 traffic lanes to replace a bridge on a road that has none of those things. I have never seen anyone walking or biking there. Here is a google street view.

a multi million dollar bridge

Correct. That's the minimum spend for full compliance with ADA and other statutes.

If you look at the picture Obie posted of the artist rendering of the new bridge, it’s a two lane bridge going north and south with the 3rd lane being for north bound traffic to turn left on Haihai street.

Which makes sense.

Now, how does one replace a one lane bridge and at the same time keep “One lane will be open at all times during construction?”

Forgot to add .. Anyone using this path try jog up to Kinoole and buy coconuts from the nice kiddos selling them later this afternoon. They on the last block before turn back down to HaiHai.
