Why didn't every single person fleeing in a car honk their horns to alert their neighbors? Maybe blame at anything but the root cause is a lost cause...

FWIW I think that the sirens should have been sounded but I don't know when. With hindsight you can pick a time but without hindsight I default to 6:30am when the fire started up on Lahainaluna Rd.
If the sirens were sounded early enough most people would have milled around and eventually made some kind of informed decision. At least they wouldn't have been in bed sleeping. If sounded late, like as the fire reached town and the fire was spreading faster than anybody could run and probably faster than most residential speed limits, there for sure would have been some people who headed uphill thinking there was a tsunami. Even so, 10 people dead because of that vs 100 who had a better outcome would have been a "win" albeit not one that public officials could point to proudly.
