I guess Pahoa wasn't as vegan as Under the Bodhi Tree thought because it went out of business.
A replacement could be coming soon.

There was a FB thread about the businesses that have left the mall. Under the Bodhi Tree was one of four that was mentioned. The thread mentioned something about the rent getting increased, whether or not that is true or had anything to do with them closing I don't know. What I do know is that in the USA about 5% of the population identifies as vegetarian. It's probably higher in Pahoa but the restaurant industry is super competitive without telling most of the population you won't sell them what they want.

Thereʻs a spelling conflict above. Itʻs actually Marzoʻs but the owner is listed as Christopher Jones.

The other unit was Banzos which was middle eastern vegan.
Maybe just borrowing a famous name.

I'm not a sports ball enthusiast but a place with good pub grub would be nice.

Bodhi Tree had been in Waikoloa for a while before coming to Pahoa. They were busy on the west side but the rent in the shopping center there increased substantially, which was at least one reason they relocated over here.

Ditto! Hopefully with that big space, Ikaika will be able to pack in enough customers to keep the prices manageable. I've heard it's 8 or 9 dollars for a beer at some of the other establishments at Puna Kai. No can!
I wish him the greatest success.
RIP Bodhi Tree - Steve you gave it your best shot. Thanks for trying to share your gifts with Puna. Pahoa ain't Waikoloa. Not even a little bit.

Is Ikaika involved? I didnʻt see his name on the license. Re Bodhi Tree, it was the $14 avocado toast that chased me out of there.

Is that inflation or price gouging?
When I compare our prices for everything, to the same on the west coast, I'm appalled.. and get the sense every step in the supply chain is gouging the f*ck out of us. And kinda wish the gov would step in and put things to rights.
In other words.. capitalism is a horrible way to run a society.

May I suggest government subsidized beer then?
