I need to be able to record streaming shows on Merit Street Media so I can watch them when it's convenient, instead of only when they're live-streamed. I don't understand how to do it, so I'm going to have to pay someone to help me. Do you know who I can call for help? Mahalo

Aloha Sue,
I personally dont have much experience with creating video on my computers but I don't think it need be as much as all that to get what you want done. The first question is what type of computer/operating system do you have? But even without that I'd suggest searching with a phase like.. "capturing video on the screen of your computer" or some such and am sure you'll find all sorts of suggestion/ways to do it.
There's more sophisticated ways, but if you can run the video when it's live and record it from your screen that's quick and should be fairly simple to set up. Otherwise there's more, ie actual software packages that will capture the stream itself, but you may not need to deal with all that.
I hope that gets you started.. and strongly suspect others will jump in with more, better? advice..

Sue,
Sounds like you need OBS Software.
It’s a free download from here:
https://obsproject.com/
Once installed, it’s virtually self explanatory. One caution however is that you must make sure you have a hard drive with significant storage capacity. A one hour HD Video could be as big or bigger than 15 megabytes.
There is also built in help in the software once installed to help guide you through.

It looks like
Merit Street Media has most of their shows available On Demand on their website in case you miss them when they stream.
You should login and check there first for the shows you want.
They don't seem to have a Download for later option and recording from your screen with OBS requires someone to be there to record the stream, so unless someone is helping do this for you, you might as well just watch the show then.

I know there's a way to record streaming shows, but I can't figure it out - that's why I need help to set it up on my computer. I guess I need a computer-smart person to do it! Thank you for mentioning the On Demand part of Merit Street but I want to record the events so I can watch them when I want to. Mahalo.

Sue I'm going to break from tradition and not recommend a YouTube video LOL
If you are near Pahoa, and it's a laptop or something you can easily transport, go see Harry at Pahoa Tech across from Nings. He's great and an amazing resource in Puna. He does not do tech support over the phone so just stop by if can. He's super reasonable IMO.
I wish you all the best.

Youʻre welcome and sorry if that sounded curt. I didnʻt mean it that way.
