Aloha Rob Tucker,

Mahalo.
Hopefully, Moderator 2 is comfortable enough in this forum and with us to share.

Sharing gratuitous personal information on the internet is just plain stupid. Itʻs not about comfort, itʻs about common sense.
Certainty will be the death of us.

Think of the IGNORE feature that’s offered to all Punaweb members as your personal power to ban someone whose posts you find offensive.
Click UserCP, on of left column you’ll find buddy/ignore list

I most certainly can appreciate the number of red flag reports received.

However, that being said, what triggers the appropriate moderation of a red flagged comment?

The sheer volume of red flags? Or the actual words posted by a certain poster?

Having back and forth dialog on any subject is good and healthy. And even when a poster says something nonfactual, and another poster corrects that factually is also a good and health exchange. Which, for the most part, is what this thread has been about.

However, there are a few posters who have stooped into the name calling, personal insults, ridicule and yes, misogynist terms used against a woman. It's those posts that need moderation. That seemingly never get moderated.

And yes, the ignore feature is a wonderful thing!

Aloha Kalianna,

Actually, I found that my using a pen-name caused a lot of uncomfortableness. As in the HPPOA board lemmings often accused me of being "fake," and stated I could obviously not be trusted to tell the truth because why else would I use a pen-name? (Convoluted, I know. But then, in my opinion, most board-supporter logic is convoluted.)

A name on the internet is nothing. Most people, if they Google themselves, will find their name somewhere online. A name is not gratuitous either. A name is how individuals communicate and connect with one another. (Unless you are a stock animal- we used to give ours numbers. But then, funny enough, those numbers became names.)

A moderator, who feels comfortable in stating, "the number of red flags reported on this post..." but is not comfortable in attaching a name to that claim...

Well, let's just say, if I would have done that, using my pen-name, the board lemmings would have been jumping at me en masse.

Either way, I respect whatever Moderator 2 chooses- share or do not.

Aloha-

Mahalo for sharing that and good to know.

My husband and I are firm believers in letting others do, or do not, whatever they are comfortable with as long as they are not hurting anyone. We have instilled this tolerance/acceptance into all of our children (all 10 of them).

I do think when someone posits a point of view and demands respect as if their's is accurate the whole house of cards comes tumbling down when they make inaccurate statements that are easily checked. It sorta renders their entire schtick suspicious.. as if they are the ravings of..  rather than actually fact based opinions.. [...]

This post was just stunning. Seriously, the number of incorrect claims you've made over the years using your various usernames offers serious competition to some of the more deluded posters on PW. To then complain about others being long-winded takes the biscuit.

Here's an old rule of thumb I learned many years ago... just because someone puts a hoop up in front of you doesn't mean you have to jump through it.
