Tom, give Mary a break.. even SHE gets tired of your BS.

Who is Mary?

OK, I googled Mary, and another word I won't share here. I was informed about what MyManao had posted and was deleted, so I knew what to search for. I will not list the search results here, but unless MyManao can tell us who Mary is, then all I can say is you can watch whatever you want in your private life, MyManao; just don't bring it into a more public forum such as Punaweb.

"I gave up trying to embed a video..."

Tom (and anyone else)

On embedding video problems:

1. Use the SHARED link function from the YouTube video - and not the webpage URL from YouTube
2. Set cursor in the body of your draft post where you want the upper left corner of the video to be
3. When you click on the "Insert Video" icon, select YouTube as video type and under Video URL - DELETE the prefilled in http:// and then paste the shared link from YouTube into the video URL field.

The video SHOULD post; however, it may come up in your draft post as a black field and the YouTube "Can Not Play" warning may show. Select Preview Post and it and it should work. Then post the post!

Good Luck!

From the Nene Research and Conservation Facebook page:

A few days ago, we were at Liliʻuokalani Park with DLNR, removing cat food that the Nēnē were eating, when we suddenly heard the alarm calls from the nesting female. We rushed over and saw a leashed dog sniffing and trampling the Nēnē nest, while two adult humans stood by. As we approached, the adults became unruly, ignoring our attempts to explain why their actions were harmful.
Sadly, when we returned today, we were alerted by the thousands of flies around the nest. Upon further inspection, we discovered that at least one egg had been cracked. We watched as the female Nēnē moved the remaining viable eggs out of the nest and carefully cleaned out the broken egg’s remains and shell. To make matters worse, both cats and mongoose were seen investigating the area. The female then settled back on her remaining eggs, and we can only hope she won’t abandon them.
Many people wonder why DLNR doesn’t relocate these birds from Liliʻuokalani Park. I may be naive, but I believe that the solution to our conservation challenges lies in learning to coexist with the species that have been here for hundreds of thousands of years. Across the islands, we face many issues that require attention. Simply moving wildlife to “safer spaces” isn’t the answer. We are visitors in their home, and we must act accordingly.
Mahalo to the Friends of Liliʻuokalani and Hawai‘i County Parks for their efforts to close off this section of the park to dogs. We are committed to exploring additional ways our community can help prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of our native species.

If you see anyone or dogs in bothering the Nēnē please report to DLNR DOCARE: 808-643-3567. They also have app: DLNRTip.

As a dog owner, I would NEVER let my dog do what these folks allowed their dog to do.

edited to italicize the entire statement from their fb page to avoid confusion.

I got to say Ms. Wao - that is absolutely terrible news.

Further, I could not agree with your assessment anymore. Humans are the only issue here. And humanity has failed miserably.

It did get me to thinking - but aren't DNLR (DOCARE) officers armed? And authorized to arrest?

The dog owners should have been arrested and charged. And if unruly, arrested and handcuffed at gun point.

Not sure what assessment you are referring to, Hilo Julie.

Well, I assumed your assessment started at the 3rd paragraph, starting with "Many people wonder..."

My apologies if that is not from you.

At any event, this is just absolutely disgusting news.

The entire post was from the Facebook page. I will try to clarify that in the post.
