Kilauea Eruption 12/23/24
#11
Well.. gee.. it might not be over just yet... lookin' back at that seismic record in my earlier post.. there now seems to be a little wiggle.. just a smudge.. but I'd wager thee ol' gall is dancing again at Halemaumau.. nothing like a full blown Watusi or some such.. but hey..

I was there at about 7am today, at the overlook from the closed portion of Crater Rim Drive.

At the far wall, where I assume the original fountains were, there were 2 small places where lava was oozing out, occasionally "blooping" out a small "fountain" that appeared to be 1-3 feet high. The crater floor was covered with new lava, and places where it was the typical red lines where the lava was oozing out from underneath.

Yeah, betting would have been cool.. but all I have is a sense when the squiggles wiggle.. or the tilt turns around.. and not being much of a better.. I posted here. Though if anyone wants to pay up? Think of the riches!

Now that ‘phase’.. will they call them “phases” of one event or each a new event of its own? seems to have run it’s course a few hours ago.. but what’s interesting, even though we can’t see the vent itself from the camera's vantage point, is how the lava seems to be streaming back to the right.. the west.. to the same point the fountain was coming from, as if the lava erupted is draining back into the puka it came out of.. fun.

Just think.. our's is a green volcano.. she recycles!

Nice prediction. You're cold reading a volcano.

The kumu hula dances..

The seismic trace suggests she'll start dancing again in the next few minutes...

ETA a few hours later: well, so far, that seems to be just a little burp.. no real dance.. warming up?

Iʻd like to watch Pele dance too but my link to the summit seismograph isnʻt working. I use: https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/vsc/captures/...UD-24h.png
Does anyone have a better link?
