new eruption 2024 thread

The last one got hijacked.  This is for on-topic volcano posts.  
I just watched as another eruption began.  Sputtering then stopping then sputtering again.  Iʻve never seen that in real time before.

To add to the live camera view, which is the only one I know of, here's a still shot that is refreshed regularly of the vent itself. 

Note, at the time of this post, that the vent to the left is just now beginning to show activity, whereas the vent that has created that agonizingly slow flow seen on the live cam is seen here on the right..

This will be washed out at night.. too much light in the camera's setting makes it impossible to discern detail but it does complement the live cam view from dawn to dusk in that it shows the vent activity that's missing in the video.

I'm pretty sure it was Paul Kantner and those gypsies of his. Seriously, if it was hijacked they are the most likely suspects for sure.

But, from what I can tell, and thank all the gods for kalianna's quick thinking and taking of decisive action, we're still here! And Pele is dancing. OMG you gotta love those undulating currents.. her rhythms.. her rhyme..

It sure puts a fine point on thee ol' saying..

Jeeze, all the gods? Isn't one enough?  Undulating currents and decisive action? I guess I got my answer about who Kalianna thinks hijacked the thread; it's Jefferson Airplane.

I will add, however, that thee ol’ gal seems to be moderating ever so much over time, and over the last few days the level of the lava lake has not been steadily growing, as one might assume, but rather rising and falling.. and now maybe she's given up the dance entirely? Or, at least, she's taking another break?

What is it with people thinking gods are doing this? Who takes over after Pele needs a break? Do goddesses need breaks or time to go to bed? Has she delegated it to some other god? And now Pele is sitting it out after starting the eruption in the first place. What is she sitting out? The eruption stopped.
