Coconut Wireless Transmission: Adios Coco Cantina - Aloha Smash Daddy's
#21
Apologies Chas!  It looked like someone shared a book face link to the specials back in the thread so I thought that had you covered.

They have Tacos, Burritos, and Burrito Bowls. I'm going off of memory here ( I always get the same thing) but you can choose Beef, chicken, carnitas and I think shrimp, I think.  It's 10 or 11 dollars depending and you get a big portion with great presentation.  If you ask them to fry the burrito it comes out crispy.  It is the best deal in town - for a limited time...
I wish you all the best.

Never cared for the bar stools or the very small amount that the bar counter stuck out. Can't really sit properly. However, the happy hour was decent.

Punatang, you are correct. Macuu222 did indeed share the info. Somehow I totally missed it! Thank you! Guess I'll try to get in there before they close.

In what has to be some kind of miracle, Smash Daddy's opened at the former Coco Cantina on Monday.

They made no changes that involved the planning dept and only had to get a liquor license and health permit.

Went yesterday about 2:00. The burgers and fries are excellent. They have about 6 beers on tap plus a full bar.

It's actually called "Smash Daddy's" and they do make a tasty burger.  Fun to see some of the old Cantina staff back in action and employed.

They followed a model that seems to work in Waikoloa. My gut tells me it won't make it in Pahoa.  I just don't think the community can support those prices for burgers, there is not much variety to make you want to go very often and we don't have tourists doing the one time thing like Waikoloa. I hope I'm wrong.

Ah, if we only had In-N-Out Burger. That's the real deal wheni it comes to hamburger joints. I've been known to schedule longer than necessary layovers at LAX so I can hit their place in El Segundo. The people watching is great, too.

I always went to Carl's Jr, in terminal 8 when I was flying back to Hilo on United.

Come on now!

In-and-Out & Carls, Jr.??

I used to love Ruby's Diner in Terminal 6, but then they closed when T6 was being remodeled and then were unable to reopen due to Ruby's Corporate falling on hard times.

Oh, my son and grandson give Smash Daddy's a A plus.

Ruby's diner was a favorite of mine too . When it closed I started going to Carl's Jr. It's either that or a $29.00 Wolfgang Puck pizza.
