Roads Are Easements Not Planned Communities Or HOAs
(I think the penis was mentioned in another thread).

Oh, ha, ha. Such a charmer. But you'll have to work at it harder.

Back to roads:

FYI, if you live in HPP you should have received your road fee bill for 2025. Please note that it is not due until the last day of March. So, you have some time to come up with the $435. You can also pay the $435 by CC, online. But HPPOA will charge you an additional $13.05 "convenience fee."

charge you an additional $13.05 "convenience fee."

I had merchant services for cc processing. They charged a 1.75%-3.5% fee on each transaction. HPPOA makes nothing or almost nothing on the convenience fee.

HOTPE, between 1.5% (being the lowest) and 3.5% (bring the highest) of the total transaction, is the typical amount a company is charged for each CC transaction.

HPPOA is charging 3%

True HOTPE, but it sounds so much better if you can somehow spin it, make it, present it, or insinuate that it's a "nefarious" charge and that "someone" is "greedy" and raking in "big profits" from so that the uninformed can continue to gnash their teeth over!

Did I say it was a "nefarious charge?"

All I said is HPPOA will charge a $13.05 fee, which they call a "convenience fee" (talk about spin, though they aren't the only vendor to do this). And then, after HOTPE stated about the percentages, I clarified that it is 3%.

What is "nefarious" is some of you twisting everything I say as though it carries some "dark meaning" that it does not.

And oh yeah, to reiterate to any of you that missed it, the road fees  HPPOA charges are not due until the LAST DAY OF MARCH.

That entire quote from you leads a person to believe that you think it's a nefarious charge.

Just like emphasizing LAST DAY OF MARCH is your little way of making everything about you.

HPPOA is not even going to notice even if you got 100% participation. Do you think HPPOA will even notice ?

PLEASE GO AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every merchant service company has different fees. HPPOA might pay 3%, even more if people use rewards credit cards.

HOTPE understood.

Obie, please go away. You obviously do not want to discuss anything you do not agree with. Instead, preferring to try to draw unfavorable attention to me (get over it).

As for telling people they are not required to pay their road fee money (collected by HPPOA) until the LAST DAY OF MARCH- yes, I did bold that. It's called advertising. Something HPPOA does not really want to do. Which seems odd... Because it should not financially hurt them at all if HPP Owners WAIT UNTIL THE LAST DAY to pay their road fees, seeing as the money being collected is for the NEXT FISCAL YEAR which starts in July.

Just the fact that you mentioned it in the way you did makes it an attempt at making this convenience charge some form of wrongdoing.

I am quite sure the average HPP resident knows how to read their road fee invoice, can see the option to pay by credit card, the amount being charged as the convenience fee without ANY help from anybody else.

Further, the fee being charged is acceptable, a "standard" being done by thousands of merchants on this island.

I see no point in highlighting this matter for any reason, other than to make it a "spin" to make it sound somewhat questionable charge.

But then again, I would think that if someone wanted to really do something good for HPPOA they would promote the use of a credit card to pay these fees, as if paid by check or cash, a human in the office has to reconcile a bank deposit, endorse checks and handle what could be a huge sum of cash.

And then take it to the bank.

Now, if there was a place for a "nefarious" activity to take place, it would be with the handling of cash and checks and not a merchant credit card processing system that virtually eliminates the possibility of their being nefarious issues.

And then, if HPP could get more and more residents to pay by credit card, the fee may be able to be lowered.

I can also assume a good number of HPP residents may have credit cards with zero or very low interest rates and may use their credit card to spread the cost over some months and the convenience fee makes that well worth it. I can also see some using their credit card to pay this fee to earn miles for their frequent flyer of choice program. And others may have "cash back" awards.

"And oh yeah, to reiterate to any of you that missed it, the road fees  HPPOA charges are not due until the LAST DAY "OF MARCH"

I again am quite sure the average HPP resident can read their invoice and know when their bill is due and payable., I would also assume that any person with good cash management skills would pay their bill as close to or even on the day its due. There were years that I was entitled to a large tax refund. I filed my tax returns by the end of January. Conversely, there were years where I owed a substantial amount of taxes. I filed those on the last possible day on or before April 15. I also pay each and every household bill the same way. Either on its specific due date or the Friday before if the due date is on a Saturday or Sunday.

Additionally, the collection of road fees in the form of "cash" be it actual cash, check, credit card payment or what have you, is really irrelevant to the day-to-day cash disbursements HPPOA makes, nor is what "fiscal year" it is since HPPOA operates on an "accrual basis" for its accounting needs.

Oh my HiloJulie, you do go on, and on, and...

You might be surprised at just how much the "average" person is not aware of. And surprise! Even the most clever miss details. It happens. It's why so many (even the clever) push on a door, instead of pulling on it, even though there is a HUGE sign saying pull (obviously graduates of Midvale's School for the Gifted).

That said, people can NEVER be given enough information which may be of use and benefit to them.

Lastly, I do not see anywhere on the bill where it states that the money being collected is for the NEXT fiscal year. I do not see anything in the president's letter that mentions that either. So, probably something HPP Owners should know. Because I would imagine that most "average," and even the most clever of HPP Owners are not aware that HPPOA's fiscal year runs from July to July and not January to January.
