Yes, It is that Andy and Tom. We have decided to make the move after alot of thought and especially after the last couple of years of really bad weather....114 F in the summer, 18 F in the winter...pretty difficult to do what we do here anymore...that and all of the over development.

Reminds me of going to the Deli in upstate New York growing up...1 pound of Greek Olives and some pastrami please!

Aloha Andy and Tom, we live just over the hill from you guys! My HaoleQueen has discussed our impending Island relocation with you.
I think we had better put a rush on it. The Island needs our aloha to offset these asshole Micronesians I'm hearing about.

Aloha

I want to extend a welcome to Momi and commend her and her family on taking a long term plan to their Puna move.

Very good idea to begin planting your trees early. It sounds like a very exciting path you are beginning. Feel free to launch your own topic to allow folks to follow your progress, ups and downs.

Welcome to Punaweb.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is David and My wife and children and I are looking into a move to Pahoa... I am a chiropractor and my wife is a massage therapist. The local chiropractor in Pahoa is looking to bring someone in to eventually take over his existing practice and I am hoping to come over for a visit in July of this year. I have been reading some of the entries and one thing that I have seen several times is that people are saying why am I waiting to live the life of my dreams... Why wait till I am sixty years old to live in paradise. Do it now what are you waiting for? My question exactly. Now I have been meeting all kinds of folks and everyone havs been very helpful to my wife and I and I appreciate it. Is anyone here from Pahoa and do any of ya know Dr Lozano?

I would really like to hear from anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting him and or been treated by him to let me know what you think of him.
As for my wife and I we are what you would call laid back hippie type people we enjoy all types of music and getting together with friends for dinner and social interaction. We are big fans of the jam bands of th 60's and 70's. We like to camp and hike. We love the beach and the activities that warm sunny weather brings. I always feel better and healthier when I have some color on my skin. There is
just somthing about the healthy glow of a suntan that makes me feel better about myself and more alive. I am really rambling. Now really quickly to my children, we have a daughter named Magnolia who is 5 and is in kindergarden at this time... we also have a son named August who just turned 3. We really want the children to grow up doing things that are fun and understanding and caring for the earth and environment.
I really think that we are on the right track with our plan to move to the Pahoa area as of late I feel like I have lost the big picture of life and what we are here for and what we should expect from
life. Since graduating chiropractic college I have really let go of who I am in order to live the life I thought I wanted to live. I cut off my beautiful long hair and beard in order to be this conservative jackass that even my family has a hard time recognizing who am sometimes... I really just want my soul back. I have already had more toys and stuff then most people and I finally realized that having things is not as important as having sanity and inner peace. Somebody want to give me some input? I know I am all over the place here but where do you start?
Looking toward the future brothers and sisters......
Much Love and Aloha...
Dr David

Welcome aboard Jerome John Smile I think you will find lots of info on this board and meet many new friends. This board ranges from folks living in tents on 10 acres to folks living in elaborate luxury homes. There are 20-somethings on the board and really, really old people Smile Straight, gay, green, purple, smokers, non-smokers, vegans, carnivores, republicans (I've learned to like a lot of them Smile, liberals, pot smokers, non-pot smokers, ahhh the list goes on. I guess what I am trying to say is Puna is a great mix of people. Everyone is different and MOST times everyone embraces each others differences. Read through the threads and get to know about the challenges and rewards of Hawaii. Even if you are not planning to build check the building threads as there is a lot of info there. Don't worry about rambling, wait till you see how far off base some of these threads get. Rambling just means you are talking story.

By the way, when Jerry first had heart problems he learned to use scuba diving as a means of relaxation. There is a dive shop in Kona that has tons of photos of the owners diving with Jerry.

Hello Momi, John, and Punagirl, Carrie, Andy & Jeromejohn,

Momi,
What a beautiful place to grow up. We have some friends that have move here from the Kane`ohe area. They sure miss home, and hope to return as soon as their two boys graduate high school. The boys are hoping to get sports scholarships and seem well on their way in doing so. What type of fruit trees are you growing? Do you weave?

My Great Grandmother taught me how to weave Tsalagi style out of river cane, I am a very poor weaver and it always comes out lopsided, but I do enjoy trying. I thought I had read awhile back, that you have a company that sells Photovoltaic systems. Have you installed anything like that on your farm? I think what you and your family are striving for is awesome, and I would love to read more on your progress.

John,
I would love to have you as one of my future customers! However, in the mean time I have allotted a certain amount of square footage in our container designated for a couple of cases of treats that I will be happy to share with fellow foodies, such as yourself, and Punagirl!

Punagirl,
We are like two peas in a pod! Whole foods is one of my favorite places to shop, I love their green shopping bags, not to mention all the yummy items available mmm, I could go on and on……
My husband says that I have champagne tastes, on a beer budget! Luckily, I have found some local outlets that cater to my addiction, One in particular is Big John’s PFI. He is a local legend in the food business and I love the story of how he got started, he inspires me. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/2...ail18.html I also met my husband at his shop 16 years ago. He has always told me if he could succeed anyone can. So there’s hope for us yet! Same offer Punagirl, I let you guys know when we plan to ship, that way you can put a wish list together and I can put them in our container. I had to laugh at the Bertolli oil scenario. I am such a dork, everywhere we travel I always pack a small bottle of olive oil, some spices and coffee.

Carolann R,

I have to comment on your art, you do lovely work!

Andy & Jeromejohn,
To my fellow newbies, I hope all our dreams and wishes come true, best of luck to you and yours.

I am sorry it took me so long to reply, I took my girls camping this weekend. (1biological and 9 borrowed) They were so sweet; I woke up to corn chips in my sleeping bag and a flat air mattress.:0

It is a pleasure to meet you all, and I look forward to getting to know everyone .

Heather
