Sorry, just wondering what mod2 has to say about this, or even Rob. Does this have anything to do with Puna *and* Hawaii? Forgive me, I'm just trying to help clarify rules that make no sense. I'm sure the mods can explain. I haven't seen any riots in Hawaii. Or, for that matter, Puna.  It seems that unwritten rules often trump reasonable discussion.

reminds me of the old days when people protested the right wingers would always say "love it or leave it".

What on earth are you on about? I didn't say a thing about P'tang, who I assume is your Klingon friend. I was responding to elepaio. Have I just been hit by the Punaweb sock puppet mafia? And who is in the group you are referring to when you wrote "at least not the kine you all think"? That comes across as a little paranoid.

Yeah, it's also crazy how the Irish, and Irish-ish, folk show up on March 17th every year waving Ireland's flag and being all rambunctious. If it is so great, why did they leave and if it is so great, why not go back?

Or on July 31st, when the Hawaiian Flag is all in the spotlight. Love it or leave it?

…

There are various versions of the Hawaiian flag, should we argue about which time era supporters should love or leave?  And then there’s the English Union Jack as a prominent part of our state flag, referring and relating to the largest colonial power the world has ever known, prominently displayed in the super jumbo size, doubled up from the bed of pickup trucks, whose driver and passengers hurl the accusation “colonizer” as their worst possible insult.

(I won’t mention those who fly Confederate flags and what that’s all about as it’s not generally a Puna occurrence, or German WWII aficionados and their predilections. Talk about bizarre.)

Christy Walton, worth $19 Billion, is funding the No Kings protest. How ironic that an Oligarch is funding the protest of a so called King. Don’t they hate billionaires? Have they stopped to think why a billionaire that runs a business that severely underpays their employees, would fund this protest?

Those are not protests... There is a difference.

isn't it obvious?

Here's what she said:    “The honor, dignity and integrity of our country are not for sale,” Walton’s ad this week read in bold text under an image of the Statue of Liberty. “Our government is of the people, by the people, for the people.”

Christy Walton is a widow philanthropist giving away her wealth inherited from Walmart. At one point the highest donating female philanthropist, she also supports the San Diego Natural History Museum and Zoos (no doubt also for nefarious purposes - probably in league with those tariff-dodging penguins ;)

She apparently paid for a full page ad in the NYT, which has prompted some to call for a boycott of Walmart (which, somewhat ironically, she has no real role with).

Encouraging people to exercise their civic rights and turning people against Walmart = win win, IMHO. But if she's got a tent on the Bayfront tomorrow making payouts I'll be sure to get my share and donate it to the Red Road charity group once we start passing the palm frond hat to make up for the lost FEMA funds.

Doesn’t it depend on the billionaire and what they do with their money? For instance Benioff of Salesforce is funding Hilo Hospital and the new Keaau branch clinic. Sounds like that benefits the East Hawaii community? But sure, if you watch too much of the entertainment version of “news” (do the Hooter girls still mosey out to feed the announcers?) - - then everything can clearly be painted in black and white for simplicity sake. If not factual honesty and clarity.
