Why would flying a flag in protest be different than flying a flag in celebration - both are just forms of speech, which along with public gatherings, are constitutionally protected rights - what's your issue with them again? Speech, religion, due process, voting, the 8-hour work day, etc, etc - your constitutional and many legal rights were literally won through protest, but maybe you just don't want to share them with others? Lost causer? (there's flags for that - see Edge's small print) Trying to resurrect some of that old Loyalist love for royalty across the sea? (from Hawaii - YMMV)
When ICE is even catching flak from the pretend throne about rounding up farm and hotel workers, it should be some sign of how unpopular their actions are. Maybe, with enough people speaking out, workers will be able to return to their jobs and everyone will still be able to get their Kona coffee and Mountain View tea and not be forced to pay the faux-king tax on imports.

I should post this over on the movie recommendation thread, as Gangs of New York is a great film I think many would enjoy. But it ties in here, along with a lesson for those of us living in Hawaii today. Immigrants (Irish, German, Italian?) of that era (1800’s) gathered with their countrymen (and women) for support and protection from the long term American citizens, (not the Native Americans who had been here for thousands of years), but the English, some who had been residents for decades!
Spoiler alert, the Irish who celebrated their culture in the New World, didn’t want to return to Ireland. Just as many Americans who fly the Stars and Stripes here in Hawaii would prefer not to return to the real America which has become less and less based on the reality we grew up with, like following the Constitution.

Doesn't matter to the people who almost put Budweiser out of business, they will still put a hurting to Walmart.

Time to allow back Punatang Rob / Mod2.
I look forward to hearing from Punatang when he posts again. He usually has some informative comments on HPP real estate, as well as other topics.
In the meantime, you mentioned you’ve been away for a year? What did you do during that time?

That's just weird, you wanting to know about me laundering my socks. I'm not worrying about "others", whatever that means; I was just curious about your previous comment because it makes no sense. Are you OK?

Headline of a wire service article several days ago: "More Mexican and Guatemalan flags seen at L.A. protests."
Trump's deportation campaign is indeed excessive, but the rise of foreign flag trend is a questionable trend -- some illegal immigrants flying flags of the very countries (their own) that they do not want to be sent back to.
One thing that was striking in Trump's win last fall: "Trump won 46% of the Hispanic vote in November, 14 points higher than in 2020, according to Edison Research exit polls." To be sure, some of these Hispanics are now troubled by the pace of Trump's deportation campaign, but a significant percent of Hispanics who came to the U.S. legally have issues with border jumping. They do not agree with giving people who did that a pass.

Do you honestly think I give a toss about an opinion from someone who thinks sound gets louder because it travels over water, or the person you're trying to defend, claiming that the Hawaiian islands are sinking, so that cancels out sea levels rising? The same person who talks about "magic mountains"? You know, at least you've stuck with your original username, leilanidude; there's something good to say about that, but you're trying to defend someone who keeps pretending to be someone else and, at the first chance, deletes his posts when challenged about his opinions. If you want to defend him, it's your call.
