What is it? Where is it?

This has always intrigued me.
It’s Puna needless to say.
It’s a guessing game.
You can ask specific questions for hints.
The location is one many in Puna will be familiar with, if you look up.

No idea. Is it on or right next to Pahoa Village Rd.?
Certainty will be the death of us.

They look a bit like ball moss. I've no idea of the location. They look a bit like juvenile pineapples, but I don't think they grow on power lines. The wiring also looks a little suspect to me.

My speculation is that roosting birds pooped out seeds from...(?) and they have taken hold? Or is that already a given?

They are air plants. I just donʻt know where they are. Belt Road in Kea'au?
Certainty will be the death of us.

Point of view while standing in line at the Keaau Post Office?

Also, if my botanical memories are still intact, I believe the plant is named Tillandsia polystachia.

That’s it!
The line was long yesterday so there was plenty of time to take in the view and wonder.  Something else I’d never seen before, the mauka side of the P.O. building, outside, had 5 or 6 large carts each stacked 6 feet high with packages.  The back loading dock was full too. What does that say about the East Hawaii economy, or consumer sentiment, or belief in Santa Claus?

As for the tillandsias, was it birds?  Wind? It certainly is one of the stranger botanical gardens on our island.
