Tillandsia species are generally spread by windborn seeds, not being one of the bromeliad types that bear fleshy fruit attractive to birds.

What is it? Where is it?

Yes, the seeds are generally dispersed by the wind. And while not necessarily harmful when it attaches itself and grows on power lines, it can be quite problematic when it attaches itself and grows on other plants/trees.

How odd, the HELCO maintenance logs for that stretch show regular maintenance and sign off by three levels of management! /s

That ended much too quickly.
I thought so too! Here’s another then. It’s a satellite photo. It’s not IN Puna but is NEAR Puna. Walking distance for some. The photo is large so you may need to scroll to see all of it, there are 3 triangle shaped mystery markers.

Donʻt know where to begin with this one. So I cheated and did a reverse image search and Google AI figured it out for me:
"This image is a satellite view of Iran's Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP), an underground uranium enrichment facility near Qom. The facility is believed to be buried 80–110 meters (approximately 260 feet) underground to protect it from airstrikes. The site became operational in 2011 and is one of Iran's major nuclear facilities. The triangular icons with three arrows are international warning symbols for ionizing radiation (radioactivity). The circular structures visible on the surface are likely ventilation shafts or access points for the underground facility." Iʻm not making this up. But... but... is it walkable from Puna?????????
Certainty will be the death of us.

---------- I think that A.I. lied to you (it does that). Images on google maps for that actual area are nowhere near as clear as what HOPTE posted and the roads don't line up.

Those are all Hawaiiantel phone lines. They don't do any maintenance. The Helco lines are on the other side of the road.

Hopefully our military doesn’t use the same AI when programming coordinates for their next attack on Iran. The image in my photo is definitely Hawaii, and certainly Big Island.

Iʻm well aware that AI lied to me. I just thought it was funny/scary that this is what it said. Now back to the original riddle. Gotta be either Kʻau or Hilo so Iʻll guess Hilo?
Certainty will be the death of us.
