Interesting that administration is reporting a 3.1% increase in food inflation for the past year, and yet Hawaii went up 9.6%.  Whether or not the average increase is directly attributable to inflation and tariffs, I can't help but suspect we are specially screwed here in Hawaii.

Have a look at gas prices, and notice how when prices rise, Hawaii rises faster, and when prices fall, Hawaii falls slower.  Overall the gap between mainland prices and Hawaii just keeps growing:

Our elected leaders can never seem to crack this nut.  Makes you wonder what they waste their time on.

Instead of insulting the guy..

I definitely get a little snippy when folks bitch about those in need getting help. From my perspective it's immoral. On par with Satanic worship, and any other horror story your imagination can conjure up.

It’s like when people go on about socialism as a bad thing, and are unable to acknowledge that a lions share of the things we collectively do is socialism. America is already a socialistic society. Hawaii is a socialistic society. And yet they puff up their egos and go on about how bad it is.

Our roads.. socialism. Our schools, libraries, socialism. Our park system, our police, our military all socialistic money taken from one and given to another. And yet when we say we would like our healthcare to be too they go out of their frickin’ minds about how bad socialism is. They, those that have reaped the benefits of our socialistic society and then amassed their own pile can’t acknowledge, nor have a kind caring heart and mind to look upon the less fortunate with humility. It’s all selfish egotistical me me me BS. And Dude’s endless bitching about it (he brings it up at every opportunity) is exactly what turns my stomach.

And, as folks have pointed out here, in Hawaii, this entire mess is blowing up. Our costs are rising so high so fast. Folks getting assistance aren't getting increases.. and yet as you all point out the cost of things here are through the roof.

As it is that orangutan in the wh is destroying our society. Freeing criminals from our jails while violently rounding up good hard working people that have come here to participate in making our society better, more productive. He is literally destroying our economy. And those that still are blind to his madness go on about the poor people, American citizens, that need our help as if they are evil. As I said, it turns my stomach.

And, if you all care one iota about all this.. and as Edge points out our coffee fields aint got the workers.. so wtf is all this about?

Consider what DHS real intent in all this is… they posted this on their twitter site on New Years eve..

So, seriously, imagine Hawaii not "besieged by the third world." How many of us would be left?

Consider what DHS real intent in all this is...

(See inserted DHS post with claim of "America after 100 million deportations")

So, it has been estimated that the number of illegal aliens in the US is:

14 million from Pew Research

13.7 million from Migration Policy Institute

11.7 million from the Center For Migration Studies

That averages out to 13.13 million. Therefore, WHO makes up the balance of the other 86.87 million to be deported?

Asking for a friend...

It has been reported that WalMart captures 25% of that 100 billion alone. That would be 25 billion annually WalMart would lose if SNAP was suddenly eliminated. WalMart's reported U.S. net sales for 2024 was 442 billion. What do you think the outcome to the US economy would be if WalMart had a sudden 5.7% drop in revenue?

Do you really think that if SNAP was eliminated, people would stop buying food entirely. Dumb as a box of rocks...

So… Homeland Security thinks people in America after immigrants leave will hotwire the low riders left behind, drive them down to the beach, get stuck in the sand, and drown in their own stupidity when they ignore a tsunami warning?

...drown in their own stupidity when they ignore a tsunami warning?

What tsunami warning? By the time the 13.13 million illegal aliens are deported along with 86.67 million "others" all the weather monitors, forecasters and meteorologists will have been fired and most likely deported in order to achieve this 100 million deportation number.

So, I guess they will just simply drown in their own stupidity. Period!

The first thing that comes to mind, here locally, is how the fat cats of Silicon Valley have been gobbling up Hawaii property. That guy that bought his name onto Hilo Medical Center, while he’s slipping our local gov bucks to turn their heads, has been buying up all kines property in and around Waimea. And, of course, the iconic Ellison owning Lanai, and Zuckerfucker his nefarious acquisition of properties around his  “compound” on Kauai, all portent the desire of the rich to make Hawaii their’s.

So, imagine, once ICE gets rid of the obvious, “illegals” they’re going to go after the Filipinos, the Portuguese, the Japanese, Chinese and of course the more obvious, the Mexicans. And, in doing so, start a land grab. Scare all the people of color out of here and buy up all their homes, their business holdings, their land.

When I moved here, and fell in love with the East side of the island, I first bought land in Waipio. Back then, as it has been almost to this day, the only way land in the valley passed from one to another is through seller financed agreements of sales in which the seller carried the paper and the buyer paid them off over time. You just can’t, in almost all cases, get convention financing for land in the valley. And land values have been accordingly lower than what they would be if you could. But more recently, starry eyed dot.com money has shown up and folks are paying through the nose. A while back a Quonset hut on a few acres of flood prone land went for $800,000, cash. The guy just wrote a check. The last property I bought, about 15 years ago, cost about the same as the first I bought, almost 50 years ago (between 100k and 200k). Nothing changed, until Silicon Money showed up. And it’s all over the island.. the state.

Talk to folks on Maui about it and the energies flow.. it’s a very hot topic.. and all the land investors are treating it like a gold rush. Money is just falling out of the sky. And the poor local who the heartless disparage, are just ‘out of luck.’

And yeah.. the Native’s, American Indians, Hawaiians, are surely among DHS’s 100 million… and where are they suppose to go?
