So, of recent late, lots of discussions on PunaWeb about all the various government funded social benefit programs, local protests as it relates to illegal immigration practices being employed, costs of groceries as well as discounted or free housing, internet access and the like.
Coupled with that, is a somewhat low sounding, yet consistent drum beat of "National Politics" on PunaWeb.
Now, asking a serious question here, but how does the discussion of SNAP benefits, by its own very nature, not become "National Politics?" First, it is a federally mandated program. Thus "National Politics" are automatically invoked when discussed. Second, I don't see any Hawaii State Government representation calling for SNAP cuts or reductions in benefits or additional burdensome requirements to qualify. Same with Medicaid. So what then, is left to or can we discuss about SNAP/Medicaid under the concept of no "National Politics."
Same can be asked of the protests that have and will take place in Hilo. The protest is not about what Hawaii County or Hawaii State Government representatives are doing with respect to illegal immigration and other such matters that have been protested - it is, what the federal government is doing and thus, again becomes "National Politics." Does this mean we no longer even mention an upcoming protest in Hilo or somewhere else in the State of Hawaii now?
Same can be asked about low cost internet access for low/no income families - all federally funded and thus, "National Politics." Verboten from discussion?
Same can be said about high grocery prices as well. I don't see Hawaii's representatives invoking tariffs on food brought into Hawaii - no - again, "National Politics."
Now, I am not discussing the obvious matters that clearly become "National Politics" as it should be as it relates to just sheer complaining about who the President is, stolen elections etc. etc.
So then the real question has to be, should PunaWeb be so highly moderated to remove or not allow ANYTHING considered "National Politics," as the low sounding, consistent drum beat is implying, that we can't discuss ANY of this at all when matters such as these is just one entire incestuous relationship that unfortunately becomes "National Politics" under a strict absolute no "National Politics" enforced rule?
Further, how many times have we seen Rob or Moderator 2 say that "National Politics" that do involve Hawaii are allowed. I would take that to assume that means discussing all the good and bad of SNAP/Medicaid/high costs of groceries/low income housing/protests that involve not only Hawaii directly, but also involve "National Politics."
Seems, at least to me, that there might be a subtle intent at trying to close down any discussion at all here by claiming "National Politics" over and over.
It's a fine line. A very fine line. At least that's why Moderator 2 gets the big bucks.
Something to consider...

Context is the key.
That some will always disagree with what’s included or excluded is unavoidable.
My advice to them is stop banging their head against the pahoehoe, and/or move on.

There are plenty of places for you to bitch about national politics but if not, start your own.
Call it HJ's Punaweb.

I agree. Your energy is wasted here Jules. You need your own place, your own soap box. Somewhere where you can post reams and reams of your musings, and gather a group that will thrive on them.. and PW just ain't it. Seriously, your thoughts are way bigger than little ol' Puna. And beings that it's easy to do anymore, with WYSIWYG site builders galore, it should be obvious your energy is curtailed here.. is being wasted. When with your own domain you could soar.
Just a thought.. but since Obie suggested it I figure I'd second that motion.

Iʻll third that motion. The ridiculous amount of time you spend researching the stupidest things, the WAY too many posts you make in a day and your foul mouth vitriol has turned this site into a continuous bitchfest. Youʻve already been booted three times. Avoid another embarrassment and just go away.
Certainty will be the death of us.

I think the above 3 posts prove that the difference between knowledge and idiots is a sheer and utter mystery.
Believing an innocent story about a little helpful PunaWebber helping little poor Puna residents by making an inexpensive breakfast with an abundantly grown Hawaii berry coupled with an Hawaiian food staple and spritzed with an apple flavored liquid instead of the entire National Politics reality of what it was and as disgusting and vile as to what that whole issue is being rammed down your throats, while at the same time screaming about everybody else posting National Politics is about par for the course here I guess.
And you are right MyManao, my musings just clearly are not as enjoyable, intellectually stimulating, fun, or as long lived as you and the Doctor going at it like 2 - 8 year old kids on the school playground at every recess and lunch break as well as before and after school. And when you two go at it, there is no end in sight as to the number of posts you or the Doctor make. But, since its you, that's just okie dokie. Clearly, none of that banter wastes YOUR energy. With your own place, your own soap box, you and the Doctor could take insulting each other to new found heights of sheer success. A place where the two of you can post reams and reams of your endless arguments and gather a group that will thrive on them. Or is this really just all about you wanting only yourself to be the only one with a soapbox on PunaWeb?
But I guess, PunaWeb is just that for you already. Seriously, your arguments with each other are way bigger than any issue as it relates to little ol' Puna. Even including those issues that cross the line into National Politics. Since, as you say, it's so easy to do, it should be obvious your fighting with the Doctor energy with your own domain, you two could soar. Move over Mark and Elon!!
Further, saying that my foul mouth vitriol has turned this site into a continuous bitchfest, while sitting back and saying nothing when another poster who hadn't logged into PunaWeb for months comes in using one word that calls not only PunaWeb but each and every PunaWeb poster a name so foul that it required Moderator 2 to go review an edit dozens of prior posts to remove that foul word, speaks volumes here. As well as speaks very loudly too.
At any event, one could also ask if the three posts above this one are posts that looks like you’re poking the bear rather than providing actual helpful suggestions, or multitasking by poking the bear while simultaneously providing helpful suggestions. In either case, what should someone expect what should be infinitely clear by now?
Other than having a frank discussion about the issues facing Puna, Hilo, The Big Island, Hawaii and the other 49 states? As well as especially calling out one who would try to wrap a totally National Political disgusting, divisive and vile issue in an innocent little just trying to help the poor little ole downtrodden Puna resident package is as absurd as one can get.
Sorry, and I am sure others will disagree, but HiloJulie is NOT the problem here at PunaWeb. Not by a long shot.

Does anyone here still remember "Ken"? He hated everyone and wrote the clumsiest sentences ever. It's almost as if he's returned.

Oh Jules, I am so sorry you have taken what was heartfelt on my part and turned it into an excuse to attack. I really was just pointing out that you're way too big a fish for this dinky little pond.. and might be happier in a bigger one, with room to spread your wings.
And yeah the gang of three collectively had a sharper edge to it, but I find when in your situation a little humility would have gone a long way towards placating the concerns express by the collective. But as it is, all the good graces, the well behaved responses since you came back from your last vacation have given way to that sharp tongue.. that once started I hope you can reign in, because we all know how it ends if you don't.
Rob's line, "assume the best and ask questions" is the guiding principle here methinks.. not dig into the muck and bring up things to humiliate others. That's not the way in this situation.
As an aside, I was talking with my daughter yesterday and mentioned that back in my younger days I had a spell where I would defer to the I Ching, and it always amazed me how many hexagrams returned the simple proverb "the wiseman waits." And how back then, with the energies of my youth waiting was just not in it. Whereas now it so often seems apropos. I'd highly recommend contemplating that simple truth when you find yourself charged and ready to strike.
Anyways, please know mine was never ment to offend, but rather to point out how limiting banging yourself against the limits of PW can be when your mind is racing with so many far reaching thoughts, and how it is ashame you haven't an outlet for them.
Peace.

Someone sure seems upset that some other posters don't agree with her.
If you want discussion, keep it civil, stop the name calling, and be willing to accept that there will be different points of view. Also, silence doesn't always mean other posters agree with a post.
BTW, Kane's comment is clarified in the grocery thread, and your interpretation of his comment above is incorrect.
Eight posts in total were edited. A simple search for that word showed four posts before Kane's comment. I listed the comment numbers for M2. The only edits were in the grocery thread.
Maybe it would help if you could assume the best and ask questions, as MyManao has suggested.

Another specialty of select PunaWeb posters. Thread derailment.
For the second time now, the Doctor is accusing me of being some former poster named Ken. And that I hate everyone?
Would it be proper to ask that the threads topic be discussed?
But, since the Doctor has brought this up about posters possibly being other former posters, and while I assure you I have not had any sex change operations recently or in the past, but with all this seeming undercover detective ability to know who someone is solely by the spoken word, one could ask if no one sees the clearly apparent very literate version of little bird flying around the parking lot?
And MyManao, Thank You for your reply. It means a lot. I think PunaWeb is just fine for all people willing to discuss the issues, including when it involves National Politics in an honest, fact based logical discussion. I just don't think much of people who take a very contentious National Politics issue and wrap it up into an innocent little ole just helping the poor downtrodden cute little package with a bow on it, while at the same time complaining about everyone else talking about National Politics.
Further, I am sorry if I came across with a sharp tongue, and trust me when I tell you that I like PunaWeb, I like the discussions here. I also think if you and I sat side by side, as well as with a majority of other PunaWeb members, you, them and I would agree on just about 98.99999% of everything. So maybe my sharp tongue comes from being almost constantly assailed as the equivalent of Eve giving Adam that damned apple? It seems odd that while I am sure we would agree on 98.99999% of just about everything, you would join in with the crowd who if you had to sit together with them you wouldn't even be able to agree on which chair each one of you would sit, just so you can join them and be against me. I just honestly think you are way to smart to do that.
As I used to say in my endless days of flying all over gods green earth, were all in the same plane, so while it is much nicer and more comfortable to sit in seat 1A, but does it really matter if we sit in Seat 45G?
What makes talking about these issues, issues that clearly involve what is going on and is going to go on here in Puna, Hilo, the Big Island, and Hawaii that directly are at the feet of National Politics with so much contention?
But in all honesty. people constantly fighting each other who are more or less all on the same team is really as about as dumb as it can get, now don't you think? And, as I think Ironyak would say, maybe that is the plan after all?
