post-tephra catchment care

I still don't know what the core problem is.

Well, yes you do. But, you just want to play your 4 year old self and argue about nonsense.

So treat me as a 4-year-old. What's the core problem?

We have explained that enough. Now, it's time for bed honey. I know you think you're not tired and you have been rubbing your eyes and yawning for the last hour, but its already 15 minutes past your bedtime.

Now, it's TIME FOR BED! Don't make me get your Daddy in here!

Well, that didn't work. Please treat me as a well-educated adult and explain the core problem. I suspect others want to know as well, but even if they don't, I'd like to see your explanation. What is the core problem?

I would suspect well-educated adults know.

I don't know either, but lack your curiosity.  Perhaps related to earlier posts in this thread about their use?

Oh, now I see this is explained in the Bicker board.

A friend of mine used a blower on his catchment cover before pressure washing it on both sides. I did nothing on my cover. The winds prior to the recent rain storm seemed to clean it off fairly well.

Civil Beat clocking in with what appears to be actual journalism. Lots of useful info for those interested in the core, or even peripheral, issues.

https://www.civilbeat.org/2026/02/hawaii...sh-debris/
"The 41st episode of the Big Island’s latest eruption threw ash and tephra, a general word for volcanic debris, thousands of feet in the air and the Kona winds sent it as far as Hilo over 20 miles away.

It is the first time a debris and ashfall like this has happened in over 1,000 years, said Don Swanson, a long-time geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. Nearly two weeks later, the areas surrounding the volcano are still in clean-up mode.
...
The county issued a warning during the ashfall, telling residents to “consider wearing safety glasses and dust masks when in contact with ash.” It also told residents to disconnect gutters from water tanks until debris could be removed. The Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense Agency has links on its website for guides on impacts of ash and how to protect yourself from inhaling or ingesting ash from water systems." (more at link)

You may be right. My perspective is that if you ask a question one way, then another, and the person making the claim still won't answer, then they are likely making stuff up.

Episode 42 ended early this morning, Monday February 16.
The NWS issued a ashfall advisory yesterday.  I haven’t noticed any ash or tephra in my neck of the woods in Puna.  I also haven’t been able to find an ashfall map as was released for episode 41.
Anyone?

The ashfall advisory was definitely noted here, but the latest fountaining was blowing Ka’u way.
Yesterday’s Doppler radar was dramatic at the right tilt!
I’m still wiping up from episode 41?
