You're not capable of answering questions, are you? You make so much stuff up, I think you assume others do as well. No, I'm not going to hug a telescope, I'm going to keep reminding you that you make things up, you use ad hominem and straw man arguments, hypocrisy is likely well up on the list, and frankly, I don't think you have an honest bone in your body and you won't answer the following question:

Again, show PW examples of my lies. You made the claim; you back it up. My prediction, you won't answer and you'll just make more stuff up. It's how you've operated for years. I'm glad I've now found other people you've "worked" with in the past who share my opinions.

HiloJulie - Where are the federal regulations that COULD be in place to curtail his X platform, and kiddie porn producing love child Grok?
Not sure why this matters - people could choose not to support Musk's anti-democratic and pedophilic endeavors right now by not using X, not buying Tesla (remember the Tesla Takedown actions?) and not buying Starlink. You can make other choices instead of waiting for the powers-that-be to take action. Unfortunately, the administration is having us all subsidize Musk's harms through the SpaceX contracts the government pays for, although I guess because it's all deficit spending it's actually the kids and grandkids that will ultimately pay for it. Being more likely to sexually exploited and being forced to pay for it, with interest, is a pretty grim bill to be handing the next generations, but that's what supporting Musk does.

And in the long run, assuming you care about tomorrow, its better than what we got today.
I still think you don't understand the embodied energy problem and why just buying the electric version of everything isn't the solution. Think of it as an investment (of energy and carbon pollution) - if the switch to an electric version never leads to less total pollution from both the manufacturing and use of the item, then not switching is the better environmental/energetic choice. It's not a moral calculation, it's a physics calculation, because at the end of the day, carbon pollution and climate change is a physics problem that results from everyone's choices from Puna Hawaii to Pune India.

As for the SCOTUS nom, Bill's stance is you can't hold anyone responsible for something they did in High School.
Um, sure you can and should, especially when it's sexual assault allegations. Consensually making out behind the bleachers, or smokin a doob of Maui Wowie (keeping it local ;) isn't harming others, like sexual assault is. The fact that you would try to equate the two is baffling - you really think everybody in high school commits sexual assault and it's no big deal?

Bill was and still is a champion of being flat out against this whole #woke ideology crap. But if you listen to a lot of what you say, there is a lot of #woke ideology being expressed there.
Define for me what you think "woke" means, because you, and Bill, wield it pejoratively like a boomer conservative. It's part of why centrist status quo libs are also seen as out of touch. You can also go back and defend Bill's Islamaphobia and wondering with that beatch didn't get slapped sooner.

As for supporting strange men, your continual support of our volcano picture taker, no matter what outrageous sexist racist thing he says, you just chuckle, turn a blind eye or just "assume the best."
So you'll need to break this down for me as while I know of Three's Company, I don't know the lore so is being called a Crissy some heavy insult? Suzanne Summers is Ms. ThighMaster to me, and she seems to have done fine in life as you noted so... Maybe put it terms the non-boomer would understand (I saw a lot of Soap and classic Doctor Who growing up - any comparable references there? :)

I have a hard time trying to accept the life of a boomer who could not have possibly lived in this world for the last 50, 60, 70 years without doing almost everything you seemingly are against in virtually every aspect.
So the Boomers inherited the post-war abundance their Silent Generation parents earned, turned it towards Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll (groovy), but then, as a whole, sold out to Reaganomics when Carter asked y'all to put on a sweater instead of burning oil by the barrel full. The Gen-X punk movement of the late 70's and 80's, of which I am a part, is a reaction to this right-ward conservative betrayal of the high ideals of the boomer's youth, who, as a voting majority, exchanged Earth Day for "Greed is Good", turn-on tune-in and drop out for DARE propaganda in schools pressuring kids to turn in their family so they can jailed for smoking weed, and Vietnam War protests for Iran-Contra and a string of Gulf Wars in which my generation served and were injured and killed.

Living now at the end of that history, it's not hard to point out the many other choices that could have been made, such as believing Carl Sagan and James Hansen of NASA in the 80s about the reality of climate change and the need to do something immediately. Or making sustained investments in education, health care, and social safety nets, instead of bombing poor brown kids around the world. But that would mean caring about one's fellow humans and making sacrifices, like wearing a sweater instead of turning up the thermostat, or maybe not jetsetting for the lols, and the demographically outsized Boomer/Me generation, as a whole with noted exceptions of course, apparently just can't fathom why they should ever do that. And the State of the World today reflects those choices, as there was a choice, as there is always a choice.

Wao nahele wahine - Showing your true colors now by doubling down on your substance abuse angle towards either one of us. Shame on you, Ironyak. You have nothing without creating lies about others. Have fun projecting your own nonsense.
Well that seems overly reductive - I still have my sense of humor, my broad educational background, my insistence on providing sources for my claims, my ability to post without using AI, and my sobriety, which seems like plenty to me. You know how Rob always likes to remind us that people may be drunk, stoned, or having a moment while posting? Surely that has to apply to some people some of the time right? You really don't know anybody that might post to Punaweb while drunk?

As for True Colors, I'll take you up on that, as yet another 80's jam.
But I see your true colors, Shining through
I see your true colors, And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors
Are beautiful like a rainbow

Tell ya what Yak,

Your hypocrisy of just calling me a "boomer" (which I take as a complement by the way) while you yourself are a boomer drives as hard as the Hilo rain we have had in the last few days, no matter how Gen-X, Gen-Y, Gen-Z or even Gen Alpha you pretend to be.

Ironyak, please provide proof where Rob has reminded us that people may be drunk, stoned, or having a moment while posting.

I stand by my earlier statement that neither Kane nor I are substance abusers.

Hmmm, to me that that's almost like Rob's second commandment, next to "Assume the best and ask questions". Here's just one example where he was most verbose about it.

Rob Tucker - "Ya gotta talk in a few things in consideration of every post. Not everyone is you. At any given moment some will be happy, sad, ill, angry, hungry, drunk, stoned or simultaneously watching Sponge Bob.

Try to use that filter a bit.

Assume the best and ask questions."

edit

I would ask why you didn't quote that part from me about why Kane doesn't directly speak for himself anymore. For someone who was once so outspoken and willing to go to the mat with TomK, geochem, etc, it is an odd change IMO. But whatevs, if his new persona is 4chan AI bot troll, then he get's to be treated like a 4chan AI bot troll - every village needs its idiots and jesters. (Sincerely no hard feelings - it's all fun and games and silly Punatics on Punaweb, why take any of it personally? :)

HJ - Your hypocrisy of just calling me a "boomer"...
I'm not in the Baby Boomer generation, not even close, by any common definition of the term or how the generational lines get drawn. That should be clear from my pop culture references to my cynical, fight-the-power framework of beliefs. Don't really care whether you believe it or not, or as we in my "be excellent to one another" generation might say, p'shaw whatever.

How about you define "woke" for me and I'll try to bridge the generational gap and convince you that you are more woke than you care to know. Hell, Hawai'i is more woke than people understand or care to admit.

But maybe one of y'all might be posting while drunk and a bit lost in the sauce so to speak on occasion? Willing to acknowledge that possibility / history?

My my...I did ask you about your substance abuse statement. You keep pushing that envelope that one or both of us have posted in that state. WRONG.

One post from Rob in 2017 regarding other posters possibly being drunk or stoned is hardly the same as Rob ALWAYS reminding us that posters may be drunk or stoned.

Kane tried an experiment with the AI posts to see if it would fool anyone. Some of you handled it well, and some of you lashed out.

Claiming you are not a boomer is quite frankly a hilarious joke as well as making you a big liar. You have been a member of PunaWeb for 17 years. If you are "not by a long shot" a "boomer" what, were you just learning to walk when you joined PunaWeb?

I'd venture to say that if you asked anyone in the generational name category outside that of "boomer" who Jimmy Carter was, I'd bet some serious cash you would hear, "oh yeah, that old guy who built houses for poor people" much less someone who can intimately define the "put on the sweater" comment Jimmy made as POTUS. A "not by a long shot" boomer watched Dr. Who and Soap? Maybe your tongue got in front of your eye teeth so you can't see what you are saying?

As for Bill's take on Islam, again, listen to what he says. His beef with Islam as a religion that calls for the death of a person because they drew a cartoon of their supposed "god," or decided to leave that religion for another, or requires 4 male witnesses to prove a woman was raped, forces women to wear the "burka" is that what you define as "islamaphobia? Listen to Bill. Not just what you read on your consistently embedded links you are so prolific at.

As to define #woke ideology, it was originally something worthwhile. Pointing our social injustices, especially with the African American populations. But the best example I can provide came from you yourself. Calling Kane & now Wahine drunk drug users. Of course they must be. They may have once said something you did not agree with, was maybe a little far out, or supported right wing stuff, used AI, so, automatically, they are drunk drug users in your book. That's the #woke ideology you are employing. Painting everyone with a big huge brush, while you sit back in your hypocritical judgement of others.

So, you use a Windows based computer? OK Then you support a population reducing, microchip installing, forcing you to eat fake meat, blocking the sun, "new normal" billionaire. Oh, not windows but a MAC? OK then you support a paternity denying, employee berating, handicapped parking stall hog, "good artists borrow, great artists steal" philosophy billionaire.

As for anything the racist bigot MyManao said about comparing me to Crissy Snow, from the TV show Three's Company, his intellect is way to shallow to understand the life the actress who played Crissy Snow, who stood up to the same misogynist and chauvinist pigs that MyManao is and demanded equal play to that of her co-star John Ritter and got fired for it, but then grew her personal net worth to over 100 million bucks by the time she died. But MyManao's misogynist and chauvinist pig brain uses that comparison only to make me be just a dumb uneducated ditzy blond girl which is what the character of Crissy Snow was.

At any event, continue on being the pure and utter hypocrite you apparently are so proud to be. But, yeah, not by a long shot are you a boomer. Did you see that pig that just flew by?

Not all of the reactions to Kane's experiment were posted in that thread. I'm sure we having slightly differing opinions on what could be considered 'lashing out'.
