Edit Reason: extra info
)
Got a "Code Red" call to my Hawaii/808 number a few minutes ago, pressed 1 for English, then it stated I had no message? So I called it back because ifyou do and enter your number, it will replay your last emergency alert. It stated there was no message? The call comes from 866-419-5000
CodeRED is used by local public safety agencies to send alerts about missing persons, evacuations, severe weather, boil water notices, and more.
edit: seems that it goes out by cell tower

This might be the cause:
Millions at risk after nationwide CodeRED alert system outage and data breach

A brief snip:
A nationwide cyberattack against the OnSolve CodeRED emergency notifications system has prompted cities and counties across the US to warn residents and advise them to change their passwords.
CodeRED is used by local governments to deliver fast, targeted alerts during severe weather, evacuations, missing persons, and other urgent events. Both the data breach and the service outage have serious implications for communities.
Much, much more at link.

Should have observed the date. It happened last November.

I paid very close attention to the date. And while the original Code Red that got hacked was more or less discontinued and shut down because of it being hacked and reintroduced as a new Code Red, the new Code Red is a voluntary sign up only system, and while some local Telcom companies may have provided the old Code Red with their subscriber base for LAND LINES only, Hawaiian Telcom did not and does not for the new Code Red. Further, no cellular company provided the old Code Red or provides the new Code Red with subscriber information.
So, either you signed up for Code Red, and don't remember, or the person who had your number before you signed up for Code Red, or maybe, the hackers who hacked Code Red 5 months somehow got your number or is just simply auto dialing numbers in numerical order in an attempt to scam you.
I'm also sure the calendar is irrelevant to most hackers.

Your immense propensity to always have the last answer has failed you, again. You lose. Why you have not been banned is beyond comprehension. The vast majority of your posts are combative.
CodeRed does use cellular companies and is not tied only to landlines. I have never installed the app to my cell. There is no need to. It can also send emails and text messages. It can do targeted messages even to specific cell towers. Yes, I signed up for it because when I am in the Austin house, tornadoes and severe thunderstorms are a bit of a "thing". However, I am not in Austin today, so just wanted to know if other Hawaii folks got the call. Maybe someone tried to pull off a Hawaii Special Ballistic Missile Inbound test?

I am amazed that by me saying :
"...and while some local Telcom companies may have provided the old Code Red with their subscriber base for LAND LINES only, Hawaiian Telcom did not and does not for the new Code Red. Further, no cellular company provided the old Code Red or provides the new Code Red with subscriber information."
(pertinent information core to the conversation has been made bold and underlined, with critically core information presented in a larger font)
equals anything you said is what's beyond comprehension. I don't think that sentence can be any clearer as to what I said. In the oft chance it was not clear enough for you, I am discussing how they may have gotten your number, of which we now know as you did indeed subscribe. I would also suggest that it may be prudent for you to notify your local Austin Emergency Officials of the call you experienced.
I made my first reply as possible information as to why you got called and the issue you said happened. How any of this gets turned into my "...immense propensity to always have the last answer" escapes any reasonable logic, as well as the "You lose" comment, which, besides you, thinks communication is a contest with a winner and a loser? I think Rob has made mention of this very thing several times.
As for the comment, "Why you have not been banned is beyond comprehension" I have no comment.
And then as for "The vast majority of your posts are combative" how has my posts in this thread been considered "combative," even considering this response, and in comparison, to yours?
I think it should also be noted that since the November 2025 hack, numerous counties and cities are moving away from using Code Red to other providers.
But at any event, to keep PunaWeb peace and harmony, and boost your fragile male ego, I'll say you won!

I kept mine. I’m glad I wasn’t the last person to see it.

After the reminder of the botched Hawaii missile alert, I did a bit more digging into the Dude's situation. It does appear that the entire State of Texas conducted a Statewide emergency alert test today, which may have been the cause of his Code Red call.
Emergency alerts get first statewide test to evaluate effectiveness
