Finally the police release two photos of the suspect, but how do we know which is the most recent pic? The story has made its way to youtube.

If local residents can find the mainlander who threw rocks at a monk seal on Maui, we can only hope they find the suspect on Big Island. The guy with the blond hair should stick out like a sore thumb. The other pic makes him look like someone who blends in with the population. Either way, with a $1000 reward (tbd), it should be easier to find the guy based on social connections (like a girlfriend).
For the pet owners on the island, do you believe your dog can handle a murderer?

I have no basis for my speculation, but at this point it almost sounds like he is going after and eliminating perceived enemies for whatever reason, and is then going to off himself.

There is no way off this rock, really, and this guy is too well known/recognizable, from what I've read.

He must know he is f*cked, and is gonna go out with a bang, but make sure he takes everyone he feels has wronged him out first.

Just such a horrifically sad, sad situation.

It’s been said before; the guy looks like two different people in those photos.
The new tattoo under one eye, however, seems like a dead giveaway.
The story I heard was that he had been violent with animals at Josannas the other day, so your dogs might not be a match for him if he’s armed. Armed with what, I wonder? At the least a machete.

I see HTH is still not identifying the victims, while other media sites are based upon what others have told those media sites.

Manhunt ongoing for Puna man suspected of three homicides - Hawaii Tribune-Herald

SNIPED:

The Tribune-Herald has learned the names of the first two victims but has opted not to publish them until they are officially released by police.

But, of even more interest to me, was reading this:

He’s also the target of orders of protection sought by two women who petitioned Hilo District Court on Friday. One was the owner of the farm where he was staying before getting evicted, and the second was a friend of the owner who arrived at the farm “only to realize that all the women left because this man was threatening to kill them.”

“Jacob Baker has threatened my life, the life of a disabled man (and) three people currently living on the farm,” the land owner wrote.

The petition stated that Baker issued “multiple threats in the past” and had returned the previous day and “threatened us.” Judge Kanani Laubach denied both petitions on Tuesday.

In as much as I doubt that any protective order would have stopped this guy, it certainly shows me our judges just simply don't give a damn.

Lol! Just seems like a logical leap when you look at what the evidence is so far.

But, once I did have someone tell me, "You think like a criminal"...not sure if that was a compliment or what, haha!

(It was in response to my putting random bumper/window stickers on a rental car I had to get when my car was in the shop; even put one over the rental co's barcode on the window, so I wouldn't look like a tourist and be targeted for a break-in). I just thought I was being clever and creative! Hmmmmm.....

This story has more info. Apparently he had been gone for two months and came back to find his dogs had been given to the humane society. He also is identified as the guy who had recently stolen a truck in the neighborhood. https://www.civilbeat.org/2026/05/puna-k...e-in-time/

I agree it's BS that a judge denied the restraining order requests.

Gov. Greenhorn needs to swallow his pride and request that the FBI be put on the case. There are 3 victims, and this should meet the criteria for a serial killer, aka Kūpuna Killa. Most of us view Krash Patel as a clown, but the agents of the bureau are usually smart and professional.

I agree, but the training parameters for an FBI agent are different than that of police or a police detective.  I’ve met and spoken with both over the years.  I ran into FBI agents at Hawaiian Cargo in Hilo years ago during a period of budget cuts, and they confided that their operations had been impacted by those reductions.  Could be the case again, now?

More importantly, this case has become a manhunt, and that might give local police an advantage with local contacts and better knowledge of the terrain.  Back when I spoke to the FBI agents, they had little or no permanent presence on Big Island.
