It feels impossible to to [sic] teach these misinformed old dinosaurs
The Green Regime who sells us out with backroom deals for obsolete fossil fuels
The rhetoric the Tang provides is, to say the least, very ironic, yet, quite frankly, is just really "SAD."
Had Hawaii pursued LNG conversion back 20 plus years ago when it became a viable option, while it may not be the desired answer today, it sure would have helped, and in some limited way, can still be better, for today and the interim future.
The constant drone of "The Green Regime" and all that blather, while staying completely silent, or in some cases, supporting the real insanity (and backroom deals) going on today, such as the End of EPA solar program to affect thousands in Hawaii, or matters that required Hawaii lawmakers urged to act after federal clean energy cuts and then the matter of U.S. Department of Energy cuts funding for Kauaʻi's grid, along with all the other incompetent nonsense being perpetrated by the orange marmalade, while at the same time making the Governor of Hawaii more or less Lucifer in the flesh speaks volumes as to the real setting up of a false dilemma that the Tang and his ilk are truly all about.

You said: "Consensus reality" - Durian Fiend
Apologies Durian, I think we just got our wires crossed on the nuances of the various "realities". After reading your well thought out response, I am reminded of some other threads where you tended to demonstrate that you are generally more attuned to objective reality, which is far less prone to false dilemmas. I hope you will accept my apology.

It feels impossible to to teach these misinformed old dinosaurs any new tricks when they insist of carrying water for The Green Regime who sells us out with backroom deals for obsolete fossil fuels based on fraudulent numbers they brazenly cook up. Because their ideology has become their identity, the dinosaurs will clap like trained seals, while our future is mortgaged by their heros.
Care to offer any opinion of what the "Green Regime" has done here Tang?
Green signs executive order to preserve 2026 renewable energy tax credit
A little snip:
Gov. Josh Green on Friday issued Executive Order 26-02, effectively preserving the solar tax credit changed by Act 24 for 2026.

Congratulations, we have passed the fifty cent mark. June's rate: 51 cents/kWh. A new record?

KIUC Kauai Electric Coop is $.39 kWh. What’s that 23% less?
They put the public in public utility. Some might call them socialist, but not those who gladly accept their patronage capital retirement refunds.

I was wondering if anyone was going to celebrate Pele's 50th. What an accomplishment, eh?

Well, the anti-everything crowd is actively trying to stop PGV's expansion at a reduced kWh rate as well as the quieter turbines and is vowing to protest any new geothermal, too.

Seek and you shall find. Yeah, that's got to be the highest in the country.
Google says the Solomon Island's rate is higher at .70 to 1.03 per kilowatt hour, for what that's worth.

Just some advocatus diaboli stuff: 39 cents doesn't factor in their monthly customer charges. My 51 cents figure does (divide amount due by kWhs) for the "delivered" charge of electricity, since they like to obfuscate what the real cost for electricity is. That would bring their delivered cost up a bit, to about 43 cents. While 43 is definitely an improvement over 51, the BI is seven times larger than Kauai which is substantially more electric infrastructure to maintain. The BI has over 2x as many customers, which would divide out some of that infrastructure cost, but one could argue that while their rates are lower, the lower infrastructure cost on Kauai should reflect a larger gap than 8 cents. And maybe it does on a longer timeline, I'm only looking at a single month, but it looks like their island could use some efficiencies as well.
