When in fact they, in many instances, were/are far more civilized than white men have ever been. And morally stand mountains higher than our history of lies and deceitful conquests.

LMAO MyMan! Let us know when you "give" the piece of The Waipio Valley, of all places, that you say you "own" back to it's rightful tenants , and schlep your okole back to Humbolt or wherever it was. Then, you might begin to be taken seriously.

What about recently discovered haolefied first hand eye witness testimony? Corroborated by Native Hawaiian accounts? Human history, almost everywhere you go is a struggle and a tragedy. Most of us would probably have to admit even bad governance in the present day is an improvement over back stabbing and slaughter. On Dec. 12, 1794 near what is now Pearl Harbor, Kalanikūpule and his British allies secured a complete victory. Kāʻeo and his army were slaughtered. “The number of the slain was beyond conception,” Lamport said. That’s consistent with Hawaiian accounts, which recall heaps of bodies strewn across the landscape. But two weeks later, Kalanikūpule turned on the British, Lamport wrote. https://www.civilbeat.org/2026/07/kirsti...onception/ (07-17-2026, 12:05 AM)Punatang Wrote: the piece of The Waipio Valley.. Fun.. the heirs of the original recipients of what today is my kuleana (parcel #37 on the original Hawaiian Kingdom's map of the kuleana in Waipio), as it turned out have been long time, forty and more years already, friends, and jumped right on in as I began to clear the land.. and have been a part of what goes on there ever since. We all go way back.. so much so my family's arrival in the islands, in the valley, and participation in their's has been added to their family's moʻolelo. But hey, no matter brother 'tang, I am sure you mean well, and can share with us how you have embraced, and been embraced by, our hosts.

friends, and jumped right on in as I began … participation in their's has been added to their family's moʻolelo.… share with us how you have embraced, and been embraced by, our hosts.
That’s admirable. I wonder, is it possible the neighborly participation, the helpfulness, the sharing among those close to us, with similar interests might apply elsewhere? In other situations? I can see how those actions would make the kuleana, the neighborhood, even the world a better place. Your experience in Waipio is a good example, and a good start.
Punatang - I'd be interested in what you base your "thin slice" observation on, if you have time to share your data.
Sure, it's called the Punaweb Poster Poll (Patent Pending) in which one cross-tabulates the fact that: - leilanidude thinks Tam is cooked because of his stance on PGV, such as no new drilling in LZ1 (hard to get much more geothermal out of the state's only geothermal plant without the wells) - Edge thinks Tam's ideas are a mix of mostly turds with few raisins, or mostly raisins with a few turds, or same/same (and isn't willing to taste test to find out if any are actually chocolate covered mac nuts, or just more turds) - MyManao highlighting that Tam doesn't appear to know as much as he think he does and isn't willing to listen much either (other than to his inaccurate AI summaries and be led by the nose by the loudest voices) - My noting he's a nitwit for endorsing, even after years of evidence to the contrary, the Great Barrington Declaration, which claimed you could let COVID rip and would develop herd-immunity with few causalities. (How's that going? - definitely no signs of long-term illness or disability in those younger and oh-so-easy-to-gain-immunity-through-infection populations right?) - A collection of HPP fence sitters who aren't real solid on the candidate - And just 2 posters, you and Julie, that are expressing support (50% of which can't vote in State House District 4, without some of those ballot shenanigans) As a reminder, of the like 24k people in State House District 4, 13k+ live in HPP, and seem more concerned about their electric bills and not dying of preventable illnesses, than whatever anti-vax, PGV-must-be-curtailed fringe of lower Puna is helping to write Tam's platform. Say what you want about Ilagan, at least he's a local graduate who did his time in the Hawaii Air National Guard, and County Council, and as a House Rep to show he can put in the effort and work with others. Tam appears to be pretty fresh off the boat from Santa Barbara - maybe with some more time living here, working at listening, and some intro level civil service he might have a better understanding of the whole area. But that's up to you State House District 4 flat-landers to decide who you want to represent you - can always do it for the lulz!

Thanks, Ironyak.
Ok, so then you meant The Consensus Reality of The Louder Voices on Punaweb. I thought maybe you had some objective reality figgaz to back up the thin slice bit. I'm not sure Punaweb's top handful of posters comprises "the electorate", no matter how you slice it. Edge does that cover your #2 as well? (No Munger pun intended)

I think you can be realistic about our country, and the aspirational nature of our values, without discarding the whole enterprise or casting out people because of their race. And most of us here are not squatters as most of our land was freely given or sold by the ali'i and their wealthy families. Land, I might add, that belonged to Puna's chief ʻĪmakakoloa until Kamehameha performed some human sacrifice on him for failing to pay tribute. But sure, *those* were the good old days.
You are viewing native history through rose colored glasses, and our current modern tragedies in full garish color.
