I think Charlie’s point (and mine) is that it’s not a matter of which is more, which is less, but the very presence of the undesirable ingredient is enough to reject the whole.
Here’s another version, from an earlier election. Originally published in The New Yorker, so you know it’s urbane and appropriate to trot out during cocktails:
“On Undecided Voters: "To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of - - - - with bits of broken glass in it?”
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.”
― David Sedaris
I’m a vegetarian, but if I’m hungry and those are my choices I’m taking the tray with chicken on it, not asking how it’s prepared. But maybe that’s just me.

Edge, there is no place on this planet, in this solar system, in the entire universe, where Americans can stand on a moralistic scale and be measured as anymore than the worst race, the worst example of our species, to ever walk upright. If there is any example of evil white men.. Americans.. have the market cornered.
Consider this..
From.. https://hmh.org/library/research/genocid...les-guide/
Genocide of Indigenous Peoples
Where it begins..
When European settlers arrived in the Americas, historians estimate there were over 10 million Native Americans living there. By 1900, their estimated population was under 300,000.
That's us. Our forefathers. The genes, the brains, the neural paths, the emotions, that make you and me.
So, no, you ain't swaying shite with some story of killing in a world that was predicated on killing from one end of it to the other. But there are examples of an entirely different approach, in Hawaii, that are worth considering.. and our deepest understand. That an entire new world could be built upon.. and that is not what could be said about the people, the ways, of the USA.
Seriously man, read.. Tales From The Night Rainbow.. it will change how you see the world around you.

Seriously, man, you should have paid attention in grade school history class.
So, you rank America worse than:
Mao Zedong
Joseph Stalin
Adolf Hitler
King Leopold II
Hideki Tojo
Pol Pot
I'm thinking that Tam was on to something about what it is you're talking about.

Okay folks, let's roll it back and keep it Hawaii. You can help me decide what happens next here,

I get the feeling that if one asked Greggor where Hawaii gets its oil from, his answer would be NAPA Auto Parts or Aloha Gas Station. I am sure Greggor will do wonders for the Puna resident in getting more studies for a boat ramp that will never be built and a road that also will never be built. And you can't go wrong with his stance on PGV and other geothermal possibilities as being "as long as it's done right."
At any event, Tam Hunt for Hawaii House District 4. A good read on Tam's take of Hawaii's new HB 1728, now Act 209, signed into law on July 8th: (Greggor co-introduced this bill. Did he ever mention it to any of you? Get your take on it? Involve you?)

I suspected an incorrect statement above, from Tam, on where Hawaii gets its' gas, diesel and oil.
"Hawaii imports over 80% of its energy as crude oil, which is processed at the state's sole operational refinery—the Par Hawaii facility in Kapolei, Oahu. This crude comes primarily from Argentina, Libya, Nigeria, Brazil, Guyana, and Alaska. The refinery processes these imports into gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel."

I've either overlooked your quoted passage in the link provided or it isn't there. In any case, the dashboard at the link to follow shows Argentina at 48% and South Korea 24% of total fuel imports. The majority of fuel used in Hawaii is aviation gas, and that is primarily what the refinery at Kapolei produces. The large percentage from South Korea must be for automotive gasoline.

I see this concern as alarmism. Who the hell will be going around inspecting your catchment tank? The gubment doesn't have the manpower or desire to do so.

I also could not find any source of the Dude's quote myself either on the link he provided.
If you click on the gray bar to the right of South Korea of your own link, it spells out what we import from South Korea for you:
Of the 24% of imported fuels to Hawaii from South Korea, Year to Date thru June 2026 the breakdown is:
Jet Fuel:
75.3% of total fuels imported from SK
4,350,109 BBLS
Gasoline:
18.9%
1,091,668 BBLS
Blending Components:
5.3%
307,265 BBLS
ULSD:
.5%
28,886 BBLS
Do not confuse the terms of a barrel of crude oil for a barrel of refined product. It takes about 12 barrels of oil to produce one barrel of jet fuel. The refinery at Kapolei produces a small fraction of Hawaii's jet fuel needs.

Yeah, I guess you're right. HPD is too busy tracking down who stole someone's cat in Kona. Nothing to see here folks.

Punatang - Ok, so then you meant The Consensus Reality of The Louder Voices on Punaweb. I thought maybe you had some objective reality figgaz to back up the thin slice bit. I'm not sure Punaweb's top handful of posters comprises "the electorate", no matter how you slice it.
Well, there's like 4k ballots in State House District 4 Democratic primaries, and majority of those are in HPP, so some of the top posters are pretty good sample group of those that have to be won over. While I sympathize with the war on consensus reality (as this burn-it-all-down-for-imaginary-symbols-of-wealth neoliberal gestalt is a drag), y'all are going to have to come up with a better narrative than fear mongering over County Council coming for people's trucks, or the State for their catchment tanks.
I mean, when claims are getting fact-checked by leilanidude of all people, the message has clearly gone off the rails. Of course 90% of all Hawaii's energy doesn't come via Hormuz, not even 90% of jet fuel comes via that route. Curtis had a good breakdown of the numbers, back when the strait shutdown began:
"Hawaii's total jet fuel demand runs approximately 600–700 million gallons per year. The PAR Hawaii refinery supplies somewhere in the range of 35–45% of total jet fuel consumed, while direct imports of aviation fuel cover the remaining 55–65%."
While the vast majority of what jet fuel imported is from South Korea via Hormuz, that's not the same as "90% of Hawaii's energy", which is just the sort of overly broad and inaccurate claims one would expect from an AI amalgamation of primary sources.
While AI allows one to put out tons of stuff each day, the value of all that expelled material may be not worth sifting through for the nuggets, or raisins, or chocolate covered mac nuts, if you will.

People make stuff up. AI makes stuff up. No worries.
BTW it's working out great for us. We, IRL, know no one who wishes they did, but plenty who wish they hadn't. Glad it's working out for you.
