Good point. However, that was just one lone emergency. Weren’t you aware we’ve had multiple emergencies in the past year? ?
BTW, “Nixonmaxxing” is a recent trend, right??

So, this thread really is about National Politics. Tricky Edge!

The person quoted above has often and regularly been pointed out to bring National Politics into discussions on Punaweb. In an attempt at a strong defense his usual response is that others engage in the same. But usually that’s not the case. The examples provided generally exhibit:
Careful editing
Removing the pertinent facts
Lying by omission
The key comment omitted from the misleading partial quote in this case fails to include the statement that almost none of us in Puna benefit from inflation.
Does anyone in Puna currently benefit from inflationary pressures?
I’ll start.
I don’t.
Does anyone reading this thread see an improvement in their day to day lives with higher prices? In what way?

Nor I, because my income is fixed. Since 2019 it's been argued by some that wages have kept up with or exceeded inflation, but that's always a losing argument politically!
And I'm not sure it's true on the Big Island.
When inflation is primarily driven by increases in energy costs, Hawaii will suffer more than other states. Such is the case today.

How is inflation now self inflicted and how was it not self inflicted before? Which tax breaks are you referring to?

I lived through those years. They weren't happy times, considering strife, protests, racism, and manipulation of world events.
Can we get a chart of income gains, tax hikes or cuts, and the net benefits to the middle class?
Sometimes, we judge an era by the dynamics of the times. The 1960's were the height of music, and old fashioned engineering brilliance (i.e., the Apollo program).
