Colonizers, are the folks, you (I assume) and I, all of us that practice, who are the cultural descendants of those that brought private land ownership, private personal gain over the ohana, money, to these shores. It’s not as if it’s a choice, we all are living in, under the guise of, a modality that in essence is the outcome of the colonization of the islands.
It’s like the Hawaiians giving the missionaries the land because to the Hawaiians it was absurd to imagine people owned land. Land ownership, especially when juxtaposed to the concepts of Aloha, is a horror that’s been imposed upon the Hawaiians that even to this day they have to unravel, make peace with. A trauma many spend their lives working through. Psychologically it is devastating. The mind of the colonizer is contrary to the mind of the colonized. Its ways are incestuous, they permeate everything.
Maybe the best way to understand is to contemplate the difference between a mind raised with ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi as its mother tongue verses one raised in English. The neural network created by either is incredibly different than the network created by the other. It’s not just a different word for the same thing, but different ways of looking at things entirely. Although, from an English perspective, as long as our ways are right to the viewer, it is probably impossible for them to comprehend the ways of the other. But, in a nutshell, it is colonization.

Didn’t they believe the chief or the king owned the land? A horror as you describe personal land ownership, that prevented them from ever owning land themselves, an impossibility under a chiefdom or kingdom? Which is now a possibility for the Hawaiian people under the current system?
Please explain the benefits versus the disadvantages of owning or not owning land?

I asked about land ownership.
Have you ever answered a question asked of you, or if you did reply, did it provide an answer to the question asked?
If it’s your usual response I’ll answer for you.
No.

And if you watch the vid (starting from the 2:56 mark) you'll realize I answered.. while keeping to the point I made earlier.
I see no reason to be dragged down some rabbit hole.. away from where we were. UKRIT, in classic colonizer fashion, turned "as soon as possible" into ten years of bumbai brah, and let's all thank god that embarrassing chapter is pau. Q asked for clarity on my use of the term colonizer, and I gave 'em, in my own words. And then you wanted to drag us off to something further and further away from.. and I thought Claren has eloquently explained, and did so using the terminology I was using initially, so shoots brah. And besides, she's so articulate, and speaks with humility, that I figured you're smart enough to add two and two together so you can grok what she's saying and wing it from there. But hey.. I'm sorry I assumed.
And still, if you can't figure 'em out from what Claren is saying you ain't gonna figure 'em out from me..

If you read your own post you’ll see you brought up colonizers, land ownership, health care. I simply asked questions about the further and further you wandered off on. I didn’t ask for someone else’s YouTube, I asked for your reply.

And you got it.. to the best of my ability with sincerity. I am sorry if your mind doesn't grok mine.
I ain't playing twenty questions Edge.. just making an observation, and when inspired adding a little clarity, in my own way. But just because your mind conjures up some question doesn't mean mine is gonna follow. In fact questions, like the one you asked, often feel rude.. invasive.. disrespectful.
Maybe you should read.. Hawaiian child rearing and education and grok that brah..

Well, it's all come full circle for me now.
In as much as UKIRT contributed tremendous strides to the field of science and humanity atop Mauna Kea, I have now learned, that just as the old saying goes about science providing questions that may never be answered, religion, and now apparently, Hawaiian culture, provides answers that may never be questioned.
