AI in Puna
#61
Clarifying question:

Will these new AI farmers be built in America, hence American robots, or will they be built in some foreign child labor using country and imported here?

I had seen that one as well, and while Zeihan is all about demographic shifts, it seems he may be underestimating the fact that with less people globally comes less demand and so less of everything to automate. Same goes for the dark factories in China - who is going to buy the output of all this industrial capacity? Other bots, I guess, so we humans get to instead spend our days on Puna's Eloi beaches drinking Mai Tais? Any day now...

Japan's population is expected to have dropped by approximately 17% in 2050, according to my search.  That doesn't sound like a huge drop to me in 24 years.

In the near term I would imagine they'd need to be built in high tech countries, so probably Japan, South Korea or USA?

In any event, the more automated farming becomes, the less need the US has for those "people that pick the fruits and vegetables". I saw a video of an automated Broccoli picking machine going thru a field. It analyzes each plant, looking for size and readiness, then an arm (multiple arms on the unit for multiple rows at once) reaches down, cuts off the crown and deposits it into the bed of the device to be transported for processing. It was interesting that it didn't just pick every crown, only the ones ready for harvest.

Evil billionaire, dancing, chainsaw, space guy spoke at The G20 Innovation Ministerial in Chapel Hill, NC this month and predicted that the robots would be building the robots very soon.  This, he predicts, will result in a "recursive effect", leading to over a billion humanoid robots within ten years.  He suggests that each robot will have roughly 5x the productivity of a human.

Hopefully, they will produce produce.

So what's that mean for the kids of today...? They can aspire to become what.. robots? Or hope to get a double wide in one of them new fangled trailer parks they're gonna build for the millions and millions of disenfranchised why bother nobody gives a shit TikToking useless eaters?

For real.. AI is a joke. Yeah, yeah, I get it, it's in everything and without it you can't wipe. But for real it don't do a thing for humanity (sorry, Dude, picking broccoli don't get me feeling all warm and fuzzy). And at this point the sooner society collapses.. like poof.. the sooner we.. the human race.. can get back to starting over. Hopefully next time we'll get it right. Hopefully next time White Boy won't be around to screw it all up.. again.

Hopefully next time we will have the spirit of aloha as our guiding principle.

Hopefully, the next time, humankind will have the intellect to have the insane need to class people by race/color of their skin - no more "white boys," "black boys," "Hawaiian boys," "Japanese boys" well - on and on and on and on and on not even a fleeting thought in anyone's mind of that logically devoid need - as well as the absurd need to idolize some mythical god(s) that in most cases created these ignorant racial beliefs of most present day humans, some even openly calling for the death of others because of those absolute ridiculous beliefs, and realize, as it already currently exists today when one shuns such blatant stupidity, that there is but ONE race - the HUMAN RACE.

Period.

I think what you're going for, with the whole lets hurry up and go extinct so that we can have more aloha, thing, is something like:  Future Aloha = 1/1-P(doom)

For someone seemingly intelligent on some things, MyManao has weird racist tendencies, and rose tinted glasses when it comes to the past. Sorry bro, but the world moves on whether we want it to or not. AI *could* be dangerous, but billionaires and the societies that tolerate them are the real problem today. Just like the ali'i of the past, screwing it up for everyone else.

We gotta vote to tax AI to help transition society to post-scarcity, or the billionaires will own the whole state like feudal lords.

A rundown of Musk predictions:

There is a robot already in existence that detects when its battery is running low, which then will change out that battery for another that is fully charged.  Back to work, no human required.

Interesting, I was speaking of the future.

Nothing to do with the past.. other than a slight reference to the pre-ali'i times I recently quoted.
