Unless something had changed, Beach Road was considered, but is no longer an option due to its location in a tsunami inundation zone, and portions of the existing road are undercut along the shoreline.

I wonder how many studies of this one issue have been done? It'd be a great thing to study. Some aspiring young starry eyed post graduate student could do their thesis on studying the studies.

This is local government at its finest. Lifetimes of studies and nothing to show for them other than another study.

And all a waste. The questions are completely bogus.. when all one needs is to count the cars, count the number of residence, the number of jobs/schools and other reasons to get up and get on the road, and do the math.. so many people, so many cars, and so many cars per lane. How many lanes do you need? It's not a trick question.

And if Shipman don't like it tell them to go sugar themselves. Eminent domain and get out of the way already. The same with whoever's in the way in HPP, or any other route. Pull the bandaid off and grow up. If the roads are too narrow, if the whatever problem is in the way just deal with it already. But no.. people that studied this problem are growing old and dying.. and there's a whole new generation of studies yet to do..

As a first meta-study, I suggest "how many respondents are actually residents?"

Big Island Gazette has a map showing potential new routes in their story.  Please, let's do them already!

Lol - looks to be the same old Figure 4-1 image from the Puna Community Development Plan circa 2008. (don't get Rob started ;) Here it is in an Civil Beat Opinion piece from Ruderman about how "A powerful Big Island landowner seems to be backing off it’s [sic] opposition to a much-needed road from Puna to Hilo" dated July 24, 2023.

Who knows, at least the County is allowed to pave in private subdivisions now so maybe this time the PMAR will actually happen, right? Right...

Another worthless study. I wonder whose cousin is getting the $2.5 million this time?

Plus, Greggor Ilagan even admitted in one of his propaganda blurbs that there was no money anywhere in sight to build anything, and it would be an uphill battle to get any.

ChunksterK, I wish someone with the time and means would investigate that. Public records, subpoenas, etc. Who is doing all these bullshit studies?

Consider that "they" haven't even connected two adjacent subdivisions ... in any of the areas shown on the 2008 PCDP ...
