Not this stupidity again.

Can you imagine what it’s like for those who wake up EVERY day and say that to ourselves?  Sometimes hourly?

lol - unlikely, may struggle to place themself in someone else's slippahs. (kinda the whole root of the issue really).

But hey - after the whole be-sure-to-vote "stupidity" get together, political reps from all levels of local government will be there later as well. Can treat it as a chance to engage directly on whatever topics of concern, like some sort of exercise in representative democracy (if there is still any interest in such matters)

"October 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM

Come together to promote checking your voter registration and to VOTE before 10/28

You can park on the grass Bayfront of Hawaii Belt Road

We encourage everyone to join the Democratic Party Grand Rally at the Hilo bandstand at 5pm. The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State & County representatives will be speaking."

ETA: There's also an article in the Trib about these events island-wide:

I like the name change. Tyrant would have been even better.

My work kept me away this time. Undecided

Did I miss any good signs?

I always appreciate the positive vibes at the rallies. Left to my own devices I just think about bad people swinging from the gallows.

Facebook is unfortunately maybe the best repository for such images. Here's some from Hilo, there are other posts for Waimea, Honolulu, etc. BIVN has some overhead views for Hilo as well (more drones on the loose ;)

There was one new to me that I liked that was something akin to "Our huddled masses will defeat their Fascist A$$es".

Anywho, as the League of Women Voters, who cosponsored the Hilo Event for the first time, would say: Make a plan to vote early!

Best sign here there and everywhere points to a big turnout for this election.
