What to do with over a ton of Purple sweet potatos
#1
OK, we have filled up the Food Basket (former Food Bank) and still there are more!
This is from a friends' field that is N of Papaikou. Their field was picked but there were a lot of potatos that were not export size & shape....usually we pick a field fairly clean & get around 900# for the Food Basket. We have dropped off over 900# at the Food Basket (they are full up on potatos for now) and the field is still full....
The Puna Hongwanji could sell some them at their bazaar, but they are short of volunteers this week to pick up the potatos. I am sure others could use them....but we can only shuttle about 500# (less than an hour of picking) at a time & work & class limit our time....
If any one has a way of getting the potatos & an ideas, email me through the forum (the field will be disked soon, so this is a very limited time offer)

Ah sweet potato French fries! At a fancy eatery in the Indian country to the north of here, we had sweet potato French fries.

They were julienned, so thin looked like shoe strings, all fried crisp in a disorganized nest like affair with just a tad of SALT. Impressive, still remember them!
