Somebody want to give me the Reader's Digest version of that thing. I started watching it and got bored before anything that everyone doesn't already know came on. All I saw was just old news doom and gloom. I'm not going to deny there aren't problems in the world and that people and nations have and always have had major flaws. I will do what I can to make the world better, but I see no reason to wallow in what is one of the unpleasant facts of life.

But Oink
these unpleasent facts of life can be changed and bettered, yes granted the video is extreme. And im sorry how could you be BORED by that video, I was appalled.
I lived in Salt Lake city Utah for 12 years before moving to Idaho, I spent alot of time at Hogle Zoo appalled at the conditions of the zoo, I took a stand with todays technologies, I started video tapeing what was going on at the zoo for 6 years turning them in. To the zoo and aquarime governing Identities, They got fined a hell of a lot of money. it brought awarness to Salt lake . It also made them change, It made them find more money to do it the right way.(my peronal feelings their is no right way for a zoo) Disney and the Sandiego Wildlife park. are on the right track.
I cant say Thank you to NANCEY who started this thread, thanx for making me cry for an hour and a half. So much for chicken for dinner tonight.

Don't eat the chicken. Stick with the soy. That will help keep my meat prices down. It it made you cry for an hour and a half then ...well never mind.

I dont think there is anything wrong with eating meat, But the reality of how we get our meat, is horrible. With the knowledge and technoligie that we have there has to be more humane ways of getting our meat. I was brought up in a hunting family spent my childhood raised on deer, elk, rabbit, pheasent, dove, duck and fish. We used everything from each animal we killed to eat. We tried to make as fast of a kill as we could to avoid suffering, and gave a prayer of thanks, we would also plant extra veggies to give to wild animals as an offering. mainly for forgivness for our own guilt, for being human.

I have been a meat eater all my life. I have never been to a slaughter house, and I have never really thought much about where my porkchops or hamburger or eggs came from once it hit the store and into my grocery cart.
I have killed and skinned 100 chickens at a time when we lived on a farm, wringing their necks, and letting them flop on the ground, taking a few minutes to die.
My children saw me do this. And saw me drown a litter of new kittens who where sick and deformed because I didn't feel I had the money to take them to the vet. That changed me and my kids in a deep way.
We as humans have some pretty good abilities to turn off and think of animals as lesser than us, and us superior and to do with them what ever we choose.
They are closer to being like us than we want to know.
So, please, everyone take the time and courage to watch this and then lets discuss it after that.
This video was a wakeup call for me...and I hope it is for those who will have the courage to watch it.

The majority of people in the world still live an agrarian existence. Until 100 years ago the majority of the Western world was agrarian. Our (meaning western) portion has become disconnected with the realities of agrarian life and it is interesting that this a new phenomenon in millennia of human history. Now we have bear being shot in major cities, a cougar shot in Chicago. Alligators invading homes in Florida. Coyotes attacking infants in suburbia. I was raised on a farm, all of my ancestors back to Adam have been peasants and farmers. If we all could cultivate some of the respect farmers and agrarian people have for the land and the animals under their care, I think we would be better people.
