Lingle stealing money from schools
#1
This is from todays paper:

"Lingle plans to cut the current school year's budget by $90 million and then replace it with federal stimulus funds. And then, in 2010 and and 2011, the governor plans to do the same thing with $9.2 million and $13.1 million in federal stabilization funds."

For the first time in my life I was so appalled and (very) angry at an elected office that I actually took the time to write to the governor and express my opinions.

I see this as stealing money from Hawaii's children. The schools budget should not be cut and they should be allowed to use the $90 million dollars on top of the current budget to improve our education system.(IMHO)

I am posting this here only to urge those who feel the same to write to the governor to express your opinions.

EDIT: Duh forgot the link: governor.lingle@hawaii.gov

Stealing would imply broken laws... and if she broke any laws, you need to talk to the police...

OK, I'm posting this to be a "devil's advocate" and not to troll, so here goes:

Some people might look at the bloated bureaucracy, poor results, and detachment from local input of the DOE and say, "Why give them more money to waste when we could spend it on something that might have a chance of doing good?"

Cheers,
Jerry

Cutting spending without having to cut services. Sounds pretty good to me.

loffelkopffl... you can wait until we get a new Tax and Spender in office? Great, just what Hawaii needs more taxes and high paid government officials.

Remember that the legislature is half the problem here.
