New restaurant at empty KFC
#1
Driving by today I saw a sign saying Lehua Cafe on the empty KFC in Pahoa. Does anyone know if this is a new restaurant that will be taking over that space? I was kind of hoping for something more like a chain, but this sounds like something more local.

It was my understanding that a "school" type of business (Can't remember the name of the top of my head) that was taking that location over and not another restaurant. Something like a Boys and Girls club type of place.

Hawaii Youth Business Center in Keaau has a culinary arts program and has run a food cart in Keaau, I would guess they are wanting a full kitchen.

It could have been the most perfect taco bell. Sigh.

Thrilled the Keaau Youth is taking it over, and pretty sure they have their sites set higher than Taco Bell. We'll give 'em a try for sure!

Someone must have money. That building commands a high lease considering its location that is usually only afforded by chain restaurants.

If not money, maybe just a really good accountant who is able to turn the "donation" of facilities into an awesome tax break?
