If you live north of Hilo town ...
#1
and you would like to be more in touch with your local community, from Wainaku to Hakalau, you might consider joining the Rural South Hilo Community Association.

If you moved here recently, this is a great group for meeting community leaders and volunteers born and raised here, as well as meeting other new arrivals.

Board members of RSCHA have also worked closely with the Hamakua CDP from its inception.

Whatever community involvement interests you, there is an ear for your input.

Not least, they are a very fun and diverse group of people!

Next general membership meeting:
Tuesday, February 25th, 7 PM, PapaÔikou Community Center.

This is going to be a fairly loosely structured meeting, but we will have Christian Kay from Planning to update us on the Hamakua CDP. A CPO (community policing officer) will be present to inform people about how community based police approach can work to solve persistent problems that donÔt resolve by calling in an incident report.

Also discussion on a Resource Directory project for rural South Hilo, the upcoming benefit for the Honomu gym, the 20th Anniversary of the Plantation Closure event, election procedure info, and whatever comes up.

Talk story and pupuÔs always an important part of a meeting. Share if can.

I posted this as a topic rather than event because it is an ongoing group, and in case anyone has questions.

If you wish to be on the membership mailing list (very few emails, and always BCC so your name and email are not seen by others), email your name, address, and contact info to ruralsouthhilo@gmail.com ... [Smile]

RSCHA is a non-profit steering association. It works under the umbrella of the Hamakua-Hilo CDP, and RSCHA in turn assists and supports associations for single communities (PaukaÔa, Wainaku, PepeÔekeo, and so forth). There are no dues or fees for members, and your level of involvement is completely up to you. [Smile]
