Mayor Billy wants a tax increase
#1
Billy has joined three other county mayors in asking for authority to increase the GET (general excise tax) of 4% by 1%. That is a 25% tax increase on every purchase you make. 5% on top of the list price. Mahalo, Billy. We have too much disposable income and I am very happy you have found a way to steal it.

Second video is on TAT and GET taxes. Sen. Inouye makes a strong point about making community approval and support necessary for any option to increase the GET that the legislature may grant to the counties. Mayor Kenoi agrees that County Council would need to approve the tax increase as well as any restricted uses that may accompany it.

If you knew anything about Hawaii politics you would know that virtually all elected office holders have D after their name, many of them would have an R if the designation was based on their actual politics, but if you want to get elected in Hawaii you better have that D. Linda Lingle was the rare exception that proved the rule, but she is headed to Illinois to work for the Illinois Republican governor.

Just goes to show us that we no longer have a Government that works for the people. To add a little humor to the situation, think about this, and get a reality check, to just how corrupt our system has become. [Sad!]
A TAX POEM
Tax his land; tax his bed; tax the table at which he's fed.
Tax his tractor; tax his mule; teach him taxes are the rule.
Tax his work; tax his pay; he works for peanuts anyway!
Tax his cow; tax his goat; tax his pants; tax his coat.
Tax his ties; tax his shirt; tax his work; tax his dirt.
Tax his tobacco; tax his drink; tax him if he tries to think.
Tax his cigars; tax his beers; If he cries, tax his tears.
Tax his car; tax his gas; find other ways to tax his a___.
Tax all he has, then let him know that you won't be done ‘til he has no dough.
When he screams and hollers, then tax him some more; tax him ‘til he's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin; tax his grave; tax the sod in which he's laid.
Put these words upon his tomb, “ Taxes drove me to my doom...”.
When he's gone, do not relax; its time to apply the inheritance tax. ~Anonymous

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home
to raise the kids. What in the world happened? Can you spell “politicians”?!? And I still have to
“press 1" for English!?!?!?!?

Your presumption about my knowledge about Hawaii politics is dead wrong.

I am, and have been, since about 1978 when I moved there the first time, well aware of the near one-party rule there, and was making the point of the damage the state incurs therefrom.
