Ask Mayor Kim to Join Climate Mayors
#1
Last week, as the federal government pulled out of the voluntary Paris Accord for climate change, 187 mayors, (as well as three governors, 80 university presidents and over 100 businesses) independently jumped back in to align with the Paris Agreement’s goal of curbing US carbon emissions. The organization already represent 13% of the US population, and they're growing.

"We will intensify efforts to meet each of our cities’ current climate goals, push for new action to meet the 1.5 degrees Celsius target, and work together to create a 21st century clean energy economy."

I would rather Mayor Kim figure out the County's finances first. Besides, isn't the State on track to achieve energy independence?

I don't believe it's necessarily a choice between one or the other.
Example: Is the mayor's office currently in the process of managing anything other than the County's finances? If they are, would you like them to stop?

Imagine it's the year 2080. Everyone on Two Little Islands lives above 8000' elevation on Little Mauna Loa & Little Mauna Kea, because lower than that it's just too hot. How many of your grandchildren, or great-grandchildren will be sitting around saying, "I'm sure glad the old mayor made it his number one priority to balance the budget back in 2018."
"Who?"
"What?"

One should read and understand the entire Paris Accord before they agree with or sign up for it. If you can find it's entirety online and post it here, I'd like to see it.

Anyone think that the mayor has read it? I don't.

That would render said "one" more informed than our President.

It's primarily a symbolic gesture by the mayors, intended to demonstrate to the Trump administration that they are not representing the interests of the people on this issue. A majority of citizens in every state support the US remaining in this agreement, and so do the major multinational oil companies, BTW.

IMO, more wrong headed and damaging than this boneheaded move is Trump's intention to roll back auto fleet MPG goals and abandon plans for cleaning up power plant emissions.

Yup, I'll send a msg to Kim. It will take very little of his time to jump on board.

Mayor Kim's signature must have a lot of power if it could prevent your 2080 scenario. Almost a superpower. I hope he signs and saves us all!

Cheers,
Kirt
