Older Craftsman riding mower free for parts
#1
If anyone here wants an older Craftsman riding mower free for parts, I have one. It's an LT1000. It would need some work to get it usable. Here is what is wrong with it. Battery is bad. I used to charge it up 2-3 times a year, and it would start it up. The deck mechanism that engages the blades or "clutch" is seized. On the top of the deck it actuates by two plates that move. Those plates like to stick probably due to rust. Most likely, the deck would have to be dropped down, remove the upper plate, and lube/grind and lube to free it up. There is a minor gas leak. I could see the level dropped between mows. Couldn't find a leak at the tank or line. I suspect the needle and seat in the carb are letting fuel by. I replaced the needle valve about 5 years ago, when it was really dumping gas, and found the old needle broken. Ordered one from the mainland and replaced it then. There is certainly some rust. The worst is the metal body work the seat attaches to. The hood has rust, but not too bad yet.
For parts, it's free. Everything is there. Starter, all four wheels and tires etc.
If nobody wants it, then I am going to tear it down. Metal will go to the metal dump bins. Etc. I could help load it, but I have a bad right knee, so am no heman any more.
I'll give this about a week, then I tear it down.

email is birdmove@yahoo.com. Unit is in HPP near 23rd and Kaloli.

Looks like this, only with rust: https://www.google.com/search?q=craftsman+lt1000+riding+mower&rlz=1CAACAG_enUS784&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=FKSyxt2NJVRfuM%253A%252CNPQsdFDDl_HesM%252C_&usg=__qlDaNatEshQXTE7DgEcFv_A5gd0%3D&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiYu43z4qPZAhUB0WMKHXVTAn8Q9QEIcTAH#imgrc=FKSyxt2NJVRfuM:

I'll take it for parts but won't be back on island until 3/2 is that ok?
If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it cost when it’s free...now here come the taxes.....

No, it doesn't start and drive. It could be fixed, but better to just take it for parts Terracore.

Kahunscott, that email is birdmove@yahoo.com. our phone is 808-731-5843. Get ahold of me when you get back. I'm in HPP on 23rd near Kaloli. We'd have to push it if you have a trailer or something. So far, I seem to get people that just want a part or two. The tires are okay and hold air. Battery is shot.
