Opening night is already sold out.

The draft selection is good, but it's also the most expensive in town. As if you're supposed to drink whisky and/or wine instead.

Yikes. Taking a look at their whisky menu there's a few decent choices and the prices, not counting the baller drams like the Balvinie, are in line with most steak houses (and whatever island tax is on top of that). I like the generic "Nikka" dram for $16. Nikka what? Nikka is the distillery, they make many different bottles. I have at least 3 different ones in my cabinet. All of them delicious.

Edit to add: looking closer at the description I'd guess it's the Nikka Coffey Grain (vs the Coffey malt).

"NIKKA, Japan $16
Single Grain, Coffey Stills, Bourbon-like, Vanilla Corn, Chamomile, Grapefruit, Crunchy Biscuits."

Best thing to do is to go there with a buddy and order a round of beers and say "I got this round!" and when they try to protest, say "I'll get this round, you get the next."

Next round is a couple of beers and two shots of the Balvenie.

Yeah, I'm dumb enough I learned that trick the hard way.

Used to have a friend who was the biggest cheapskate I've ever met. A group of 4-5 of us went to a local bar and ordered a pitcher of beer we'd take turns buying. As he could see his turn coming, he'd retreat to the bathroom. Every time.
