For awhile now, Building material prices have been skyrocketing!
I was thinking of building a new house, but just for instance, fiber cement siding panels: way above $50 each.
I kept thinking they would come down as covid, etc. waned, but they have gotten worse.
WTF!!
What materials are you all building with these days? Are you just paying the price?

I'm building with materials that don't involve wood. Most of my suppliers have been relatively steady but shipping costs have been very high.
Even at $50 a sheet it is a better deal than plywood.

Yeah I'm helping inflation by putting off as many construction projects as I can. These prices are ridiculous. Of course, even older homes are selling for ridiculous amounts now too.

How much increase has there been in building supplies?
We came to the mainland a few years ago (about the time COVID hit) to care for family and are now wanting to move back and build on our land. Are the price REALLY that much more now?
Looking at Home Depot website (for as much as it can be trusted), prices of lumber doesn't seem to be that bad.

A treated 2x4 (the kind you need to frame a wood home) costs about $10, used to be less than $5.
Treated OSB sheathing costs $92, used to cost $36.
Treated subfloor costs $102, used to cost $48.

I wonder if these prices are reflected in the Argus kit price list.

On our old property we built a studio using one of these and I recall the price was just about what is listed now. Paid all cash so I can't reference now. My memory isn't what it used to be though so I could be quite wrong.
Still disheartening though. Have been looking so forward to coming back home. I guess that's the price you pay.

Yeah, those don't seem as inflated as they could be, definitely double check. Also they don't include the slab, and I believe that cost has gone up as well!
