#1
Hi,

Does anyone know what the requirement for fencing around a pool? I've heard 4ft and 4.5ft.

Thanks in advance!

If you do, let those of us out of the area code know the answer. Especially if there is a reqiurment for an outdoor hot tub.

Hey Rob, you never told me about a hot tub! Is that going near the main house or over by the tea room? Your new place is sounding better day by day.

Noel, Was talking with building dept. today, and I was also curious (we have a garden that is partially fenced w/4.5' chain link, love to have a pool in the future).
Noel, The minumum height is 4', and the gate must have a latch (does not need to have a lock). Hope this helps (Rob, forgot to ask about a hot tub, but the pool we are dreaming of, & have the spec sheet for, is not much larger than a hot tub, sooo....??!!)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the feedback. Carey, thanks for taking time to ask while you were at the building dept. This is definitely helpful. We are hoping to not have too high a fence around the pool so 4ft will work.

Rob, I may be incorrect but if your hot tub includes a cover that can be locked, the fencing requirement may not be applicable. You may still want to have some fencing but more for privacy screening.

John, the hot tub is supposed to be on the west side of the house, opposite the tea house. If the bids come in too high, I'll drop the tea house, but not the tub. You are welcome to come by and soak.

Hey Rob,
I am looking to raise some tilapia when we retire and make the move in a few years. Since they like warm water, can I drop a few in your tub when I eventually visit next time and see how they do? It would give you something to look at while you are soaking.

I know you're kidding, but I had a listing not long ago where both an old above ground swimming pool and a hot tub had been converted in tilapia tanks. The fish seemed a lot happier having the larger area to swim in the old swimming pool. Just something to keep in mind...

I think it might be amusing but I'm not sure that the Tilapia would enjoy it.
