If you Puna residents are interested in the shape of things to come you should download the PCDP and read it. For it to be approved it will need community support. There are things in this proposal which will, or should, affect your planning in the future.

It may be there are proposals you might oppose. Your opportunity to express this is approaching.

Everybody must be happy with the PCDP..... only about 25 people showed up over a three hour open house. 25 out of 38,000..... hmmmm what percentage of turnout is that anyway?

I got some good chat time with some of the county officails like Chrs Yuen.

Maybe you need to put a picture of yourself in the paper with an ad. [B)][Big Grin]

Hope Mr. Yuen was receptive to the plan.

Were any elected officials in attendance?

The more we speak up... the more they will listen.

I was only there at the end of the day. Bob Jacobson was there. I expect to be at the Volcano meeting - Cooper Center - tomorow.

The final PCDP Open House is today in HPP.

After this the next public moment is testimony to the Planning Commission on May 8th.

Well, The four open houses have concluded. Remarkably light turnout. The biggest crowd was in Volcano Village with 32 people signing in. 25 signed in in Paradise Park.

Some of the folks involved with the PCDP take this to indicate that people are generally happy with the plan. I do wonder how many are even lightly conversant with it.

So it is a fact that everyone in Puna has had an opportunity to contribute. If it takes legal form it will affect our futures. My biggist concern is that some parts - the village center intentions are still a bit vague and need more focused - very very local input.

The next phase will be on May 8th when the Planning Commission takes input on the PCDP. This is the last arena for the public to sway all or parts of the Final Draft.
