Shame on Linda Lingle for supporting her party and not the person. In the Tribune-Herald on Tuesday, page A3, there is an article about her campaign journey on the mainland. I've lost all faith in our State government and hope to see a positive change in two years.

lingle sure knows how to get her party (un) elected, since she's resided in the gov's mansion they keep losing seats, maybe instead of frothing after someone's national campaign she could have tried to ralley support in hawaii, i guess hindsite is always 20/20

US Senator Lingle (in two years?).
I don't think so. But, seems like she might.

Lingle, IMHO, was campaigning for herself on the Mainland, for U.S. Senate. She's on a "death watch," not waiting for an election 2 years away! And she brought and implemented Karl Rove's tactics back to Hawaii, which seems to have had the same effect in Hawaii that such tactics have had nationwide this election.
Meanwhile, Duke Aiona was left home to try to look gubernatorial! If you ever read anything he wrote (as I've had to), you'd realize he's in the Sarah Palin class regarding education and knowledge. Although I HOPE he knows Africa is a continent, not a country!

Very interesting observation.
Should either Sen. Inouye or Sen. Akaka pass on -- something that happens to everyone eventually and to most people before they reach the 80-something years of age these two gentlemen have -- then the Governor gets to appoint a replacement, right?
In more than one state in the past, when this opportunity availed itself, the incumbent Governor got their own self appointed. Is this what we are in for here?

I believe the appointment has to be made from the same political party.

She came across as a progressive candidate out of Maui. I, and many others, voted for her only to discover she was really George W. Lingle mascarading as a moderate. I know I won't be fooled again.
