Last election, we were able to do early voting in Pahoa in the Malama shopping center. In all the material I have read, I have not seen this option mentioned this time around. If this is not available, does anyone know why?

The Pahoa branch of the Elections Office closed, allegedly to cut costs.
The nearest place for early voting is Hilo, 8am-4pm, tomorrow (Saturday) and next week Monday through Thursday, at the County Building, Aupuni St.

The early voting in Hilo, is quick, well organized, and painless. Be sure to bring ID. Otherwise all should go smoothly. We were in and out in about 20 minutes , including voting time. Much faster than I suspect it will in Pahoa during the general voting period.
