Don't hate the process, there is nothing wrong with the process. Hate the real estate agents, most of them are self-serving nomads, don't listen to them they will not be around to help if you have problems.

Well, I don't really consider myself as a "real estate agent" since first and most of all I'm an owner of a real estate company, and a licensed broker. As the Principal Broker of the company, I am responsible for all my agents. In addition, I review and approve all the contracts, therefore I'm involved with hundreds of transactions every year. That is what I base my bad opinion of most of the real estate agents.

A real estate agent might have been selling shoes last week, a broker had to be a full time real estate agent for at least three years before taking the broker's course and getting a broker's license. You decide. [Smile][Smile][Smile]

We have a very good real etate agent here in Puyallup, Wa. We bought the house we are now selling from him six years ago, and he is selling it again for us. He just sold my wife's deceased Fathers place also. We bought our house in HPP from a great team of two gents. One sells homes and rea estae while the other manages renting houses to vacationers. We bought our place from them and they have done a great job of renting and managing our HPP house.

Now for a bad story about real estate agents. When my wife's Dad was still alive and about 85 years old he contacted an agent to see what he might get for his house. This agent decided she'd like to buy it from him and made a rediculosly low offer, as she say a man not totally with it mentally and tried to take advantage. The son found out and went down and raised hell at the real estate company and they backed off. Guess who then contacted the Dad about buying the same house? A close relative of the one that tried to buy it the first time. I can imagine the phone conversation: "Hi, Bob. I have a hot one for you. An old guy has no idea what his house is worth and you could rip him off easily. Here's his phone number. Thanks Hagatha. I'm all over that."
These two should lose their licenses in my humble opinion. I have ZERO patience for those that prey on the older folks in our society.

Having said that, I am not down on real estate people at all. Most are honest hard working folks. There are bad apples in every group.

I agree with you on the first one, but you are wrong with the second one. Unfortunately, most are not hard working folks.

As long as there is incentive for the buyers agent to pump the price, there won't be true representation for the buyer outside of his/her supposed agent closing the deal in collusion with sellers agent at the highest possible contract price. The system should be changed to add incentives for the buyers agent to achieve the lowest contract price for the buyer. One method of doing this might be the buyers agent getting a tip for their services from the buyer just like a waiter would at a restaurant after the service is complete. That would fix things in a hurry!
