I'm not sure if people on Punaweb are aware, but Bing Maps has very good aerial imagery of HPP. In my opinion it is much better than Google. Check it out. Having this tool really helped me find the property I’m buying in the park.
Enjoy!
1) In your favorite web browser, go to:
http://www.bing.com/maps/
2) In the search bar type "keaau" and hit <return> or click the orange magnify button
3) Using your mouse/trackpad navigate on the map to your property, zoom in
4) Switch to birds eye viewing by hitting the "Bird's eye" button up above the map
5) Zoom in further, you'll start seeing some amazing imagery in HPP
6) You can also rotate the view once you are zoomed in. Sometimes you get better imagery with a different rotated view.

Thanks for the link!
The images of Keaau town were from a few years ago (3-4) based on the fact that our house has a work tarp on the south side, the kayak in our drive is now visiting some other drive, the neighbors house was sold and was repainted & the Papaya fields across from Puna Hongwanji do not have the bananas planted yet.... (there is that much CLEAR SKY detail!)

right, between July 2007 (when we cut big albizias missing from this photo) and July 2008 (when our neighbor's house burnt and that house is in this photo).

Wow! much better image than Google has of my property. I don't remember having two tent garages though!! LOL But it is there! Nice to see the property again before the jungle started growing back. What PITA to keep it cut back! Now, "if" I were a richman, I'd have some hard working kid doing that for me! But alas I'm cutting it back myself. Thanks for the link beejee! Hope we see you Sunday at Richardson Beach!!

just be careful with inappropriate pictures. when i put in Pahoa Hawaii and clicked on images there was some X-rated pictures on there. not sure why they were there but i am glad my young daughter was not sitting by me when i opened them.

Does anyone know how often they update the photos?
The google earth ones are WAY behind.
I like this Bing site much better. Thanks for the link.

In the Bing map only my house pad in there. In the Google map my house is already up. That would be in 2005.

The Bing map for my area is about two years more recent than Google. One thing to be aware of is that the Bing map is more current in the two highest zoom levels only at my location. When I zoom out, I get something about three years older than when fully zoomed in. Also, on some satellite maps they have spliced together images done at quite different times. YMMV.
Google Earth more up-to-date than Bing in some locations so it appears to be a wash as to which is more current. Good to know that there is another option though as I like to study terrain and routes as I am a hiker.

I remember contacting Microsoft a couple years ago. They gave a phone number to the company that does this for them. I don't have it anymore. Microsoft uses Airplane photos. Google uses satellite images. My land doesn't come up in Bing maps. Yes the Bing maps are better, but of course they taken at a lower elevation.
