Mayor looking at closing beaches.
#51
Meanwhile, over on Maui, their mayor has proposed what seems like some reasonable requests given the current situation.  Of course a good portion of the public has to go along with the voluntary nature of the proposal, and agree with the definition of non-essential activities.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino is asking residents and visitors to Maui County to voluntarily curb non-essential activities including gatherings for 21 days.

A provision for a health pass.
More limits on gathering sizes.
work from home provision
restricting activities to essential items.
visitors remain at their hotel properties
refrain from visiting remote areas
reduce risky activities.

Temporary 21 day quarantine sounds reasonable.

'Health Pass' in order to go shopping is government overreach.

Private businesses already have the right to refuse service to the unvaccinated if they choose to.

Private businesses don't have the courage to turn away business; a government requirement provides cover.

And some individuals don't understand the term "voluntarily curb non-essential activities" or the difference between "vaccinated and vaccinated" until after those who are walking human variant carriers spread COVID-XYZ all around, right before they find they need a bed in the ICU.

Why? Why should the people that are vaccinated have to interact with those that are not? Especially when doing so is putting their health in danger. The unvax'd are vectors of disease, why would we knowingly welcome them into our stores if we don't have to?

Nah, let them get some good sumaritain to do their shopping for them. That's what the elderly have had to do from the get go. Don't you think it's about time those that do the bitching carry their own weight? If not, why? What excuse to you have to offer that we all live with the unvax'd Albatros around our neck?

After all, this entire surge is their doing. Way should we cater to them at all?

Rights, freedoms, and catering to the lowest common denominator. It's just how things are.

It's a great question.  Although I've heard thinkers who flip the script and would say 1) it's not "our store" it's the business owner's store and it is the business owner's call whom to cater to.   In that equation it's the folks who are trying to avoid other folks, that should probably find someone to do their shopping.
