Spectrum Oceanic Significant Price Increase
#1
If you subscribe to Spectrum Oceanic's Cable TV, digital phone, or Internet services, I strongly urge you to review your recent billings. My parents have two separate cable bills, which increased roughly 40.00 a month (from 140.00 to 180.00). As a result of this increase, I cancelled the digital phone and cable tv services on one of the accounts. I kept only Spectrum's Internet service.

This has been the case since they bought out Warner. I’m grandfathered on a $60 plan for phone and internet all the new plans cost at least $20 more and possibly more after the one year promo period. Terrible company, the costs of providing high speed internet should be falling, but not doubt they are losing cable tv customers and advertising revenues. Good riddance.

These price increases that I alluded to occurred with both a legacy TWC account and a new Spectrum account.

The upside of these service cancellations is my Internet speed jumped from 70Mbps to 200Mbps, but now I'm trying to find a reasonable streaming alternative. That is easier said than done.

Is Spectrum Oceanic different from Spectrum? My upcoming bill is going up by about 7% for TV and cell service with Spectrum, but that's not outrageous given everything that's going on these days.

My time Warner plan never had a promo period and has been $60 a month for like 8 years. Only 70 down 5 up but I’m not paying $90 a month for minimally upgraded speeds and endless price increases. Spectrum is a terrible company on the mainland and Oceanic territories. Hopefully Hawaii telecom will keep rolling out fiber even to areas with cable so we have some competition. I guess it could be worse and we could be stuck with oceanic Comcast.

My parents have two Spectrum Cable accounts (Spectrum Oceanic is their legal name):

1. One is a legacy TWC triple play bundle account. They reduced the promotional pricing and increased the broadcast recovery fee
in the latest billing. As a result, the overall price increased 40.00

2. The other account is a new Spectrum cable tv and Internet. They eliminated the promotional pricing on both services and increased the broadcast recovery fee. This resulted in their billing increasing 40.00

Spectrum offers 200/10Mbps Internet service for 74.99 a month and 400/20Mbps service for 94.99 a month. I don't need 400Mbps level speed, so I upgraded from 70Mbps/5Mbps to 200Mbps/10Mbps when I did these cancellations.

Mines got phone

About 10 years ago I bought an Obi for about $50, got a free Google Voice number, and have had a free over the internet phone service ever since.  Dial tone, can connect to regular mobile phones, yoiur cell phone.  The only drawback at the time was no 808 area code numbers were available.  But all outgoing US calls are free.

We have only subscribed to Internet and telephone from Oceanic / Spectrum for years now, only because they had not been available through Hawaiiantel in our area.
Supposedly that has changed recently and they can now be gotten through them.
Our rate has been under $60/mo, which I believe was a special rate  when begun, and I believe we're grandfathered into it.
I will watch it, though.

Supposedly, the loss of Cable subscriptions has hit the provider's income hard across the country.
As far as I'm concerned, they've always been over paid.
But then, I don't watch TV.
Only M'Lady does.

It could be ripped out.
I'd never miss it.
M'Lady might be another story.
She spends a lot of time plugged into the boob-tube.
