Adios Muchachos, and Aloha
#1
Having run afoul of the thought police of what I thought would be a fun site, I have decided to revert to the pastime of throwing coconuts at the pigs in my yard instead of casting pearls on the internet. I really do not belong here.

This has not been a wasted effort. Having experienced first-hand the hospitality of Big Island astronomy to new ideas and deep Polynesian culture, I now understand at a much deeper level the desire of Hawaiians to take their mountain back. This has been an educational experience and has given me a much deeper insight into this complex issue.

Good luck and fondest best wishes to all with malice towards none.
Aloha.

"Having run afoul of the thought police of what I thought would be a fun site". Previously on another thread: " ... And I'm drunk a lot. "

Your ideas may have merit for a serious discussion on a more scientifically oriented site, but you presented them here, a community forum, as the ravings of a belligerent and mean drunk. Respect is earned, and you have not done so in either here in this space, or it seems in any other relevant community. Aloha.

You threatened to slink back into the bushes before. This time, I hope you mean it.
Certainty will be the death of us.

I offered help and you seemed to take my advice by submitting a paper to arxiv.org. I even defended you at one point. But all you've done is insult and swear at me. Sorry, but kalianna and Punaperson are correct and I that even if you don't post again, you've learned a lesson.

IMO you've made a false and hasty generalization to support a preconceived opinion, so it was a wasted effort.

Though I agree he does nothing if not harm his own cause, I would hope no-one would think he’s representative of the whole, but rather an exception.

One can hope, right?

And, I would add… his insecurities, for if you were to stick around you’d find he has many, and your's when mixed can only be expected to clash. He thinks of himself as the big dog hereabouts, and is inclined to do a lot of barking. You came in.. well you stumbled into.. his turf and rocked his boat. And yeah, that sort of struttin' about isn’t what you’d expect from someone who claims to be an impartial observer, but there it is. From here, methinks, you should stick around. It'd be fun.

casting pearls on the internet.

Which makes us what, the Biblical swine?
Perhaps casting insults on the way in as well as on the way out, instead of or along with the pearls, might challenge the validity of that slogan on the door mat.

iquetzal said "thought police" which is generally a group, not one person, so who are you talking about? Several people replied to iquetzal and all thought his or her posts were a bit odd and you certainly can't claim he wasn't rude and abusive. During his brief posting history, he either plagiarized another's paper or was shown that he did actually have his paper published in a journal, albeit one I'd never heard of, but it had nothing to do with Hawaiian wayfinding.  As for his behavior here and his request for me to endorse a paper that I don't know he wrote, plus I don't even know him, I suspect any scientist in that position would have done the same, so how is it an exception?

I don't see how it may seem appropriate to body check other people's posts. If you see something that bothers you my consistent advice is to assume the best and ask questions. A lot of this goes beyond that. Communication does not require a winner.

Who body-checked other people's posts? I don't understand your point.
