International controversy

It seems national and international politics are now accepted here, so I thought I would mention the current threat that might scupper the special relationship between the US and the UK.

Someone who calls themself a scientist (MyManao - any input?) has suggested putting salt into tea makes it taste better. This has not gone down well. Full article here:

Well there's the problem. These guys are obviously Ivy League material. Most Americans only know tea from a drive-through, super-sized and with at least 300 calories of added sugar.

I think there’s some who still haven’t gotten past that whole “tea party” thing.  What a waste of perfectly good, delicious tea.  No matter how you heat it or what you add into it.

There is a tea wholesaler in Volcano who had an account at Harrods of London.  It was selling for $4800 a pound.  One of the Volcano growers said was one of Queen Elizabeth’s favorite.

Being the scientific type, I made tea (Tetley) today with the smallest amount of salt I could manage. I tasted it and it was horrible. So I tried going down the homeopathic route of putting a tiny amount of water into a large glass of hot water, dissolving it, and then repeating the process by putting a small amount of that water into another large glass of hot water. I then added a bit of that to a nice cup of tea, which made no difference.

I looked things up on the internet and given all the teas the royal family is grifting I couldn't find the Big Island variety. Maybe the queen was keeping that tea to herself.
